They don't buy and sell players in American sports (except maybe in the MLS, I don't know about that one). The concept of transfer fee itself does not exist over there. Players are traded or signed at the end of their contracts, like on a Bosman.

I blame you and people like you. What kind of grown-ass man(or woman) needs an animal mascot to define the identity of the team that they support. Pittsburgh Hockey Club/Team would have sufficed.

Imagine if in football they started calling teams like Liverpool Liverbirds, Manchester Red Devils, Arsenal Gunnerasaurus's, Tottenham Cocks etc. There would be riots in the streets.
