Transfer fee in football is already mad but this is just insane. A player with 17 minutes of first team football joining Madrid for €45 million in 2019. Imagine paying that sort of money for potential alone

Looks a talent but from my extensive YouTube scouting I'd say that Neymar looked a better prospect at that age.

He will be staying there for the next two years. Players from Brazil can't transfer to foreign teams until they are 18.

Signing a 16 yo player for that amount is huge gamble indeed. It might turn out good or bad, but the uncertainty is massive, no matter how extraordinary the scouting reports are.

They're not a paper per se...in fact now you got me contesting the ontology of Globo Esporte. They're a website, a branch from the massive Globo corporation. I'd say they are decently reliable, they're definitely a 'serious' website. That we would have offered 30m for a then 14 year old but would go on to haggle over Zelinski is indeed very strange however.

He was loaned out and currently playing at Heerenveen. He's still 18 years old, so it's hard to pass judgement on him yet. In whatever case I'd have an option on this group of young talented players rather than not. Maybe not for 45 million euros though, but if that's the price they paid, I guess that means that the second bidder wasn't offering much less and that subsequently inflation in football is reaching crazy levels once again.

Nothing. Or that he pretty much showed them he's years away from being even close to be a good squad option. And even longer than that from being judged as an important first team player. And that most super talented youngster, being Norwegian ones or even Brazilian ones could do well without the pressures and top competitions at a club like Real Madrid at the age of 16 or even 18.
