Yup cos Benayoun was brilliant against Sunderland and Villa...some of you guys need to calm down

Can you point out a red who was good in these games ?
He's good, but not good enough to carry the team on his back consistantly. Nonetheless, he still has a winner mentality, always in pursuit of the ball and everytime he gets the ball you just know something is going to happen. If you dont believe me, ask the Mancs who played against him yesterday, for some odd reason they seemed petrified everytime he got the ball, running backwards instead of running to him and grab it.
And that Assist, cutting 3 players and putting Torres against VDS, terrific.

Only problem with Yossi is that he is v inconsistent...he could quite easily play against Fulham and be non-existent. Saying that - he very much fills a role in the team which is empty without Gerrard or Aquilani...however would anyone be upset if we upgraded Yossi with David Silva in the summer?

Yossi has been a model of consistency since his starring role away at Blackburn last November. Assists and goals every month bar our miserable spell in January I think.

Yes, lovely goal that was, through ball from Masch. Was that in January? I thought it was the first week of Feb. Could be/probably wrong.

Does Yossi really have an expiration date?

I really could see him at 34/35 coming of the bench and making a difference. He might not be a full 90 minutes player but his match-winning abilty would still be the same.

Fulham away is again on the horizon and one of the best moments of last season was his late winner at Craven Cottage; his subsequent celebration wasn't bad either.

Im not so sure id replace him with Silva--if by replace you mean sell off Yossi. Id love to see both playing for the Reds. Yossi is an excellent bench player, but he also makes his mark from the kick-off with his creativity and ball handling. He is pushing 30 though so it would be very interesting to see what moves Liverpool make in the next few seasons.

Calm down in what sense? Benayoun has been one of our best and most consistent players for months and the front four of Torres, Gerrard, Kuyt and Yossi pick themselves on merit for the big games.

Bit of an unfortunate use of Fulham there too, given his last gasp winner at Craven Cottage last season ;)

Considering their usual transfer fees, nothing less than 45 million.

when he signed for us, I really thought that it was another short term signing with the view to get an upgrade in the coming season or so. However, I have been pleasantly surprised by the level of his consistency. Agree that he can be frustrating at times, but other times he is the only one that is looking to take players on and do something different & long may it continue!!

No, they are not insane. This summer they had some nice dealings; they did pay more than usual; but never over the top.

As for Benny,I guess it is around 15mp; at most 18 mp.
It will remain a guess though; Benny is going nowhere.
Would love the 19th more and more trophies; but would love even more to see a fan owned LFC.

Smicer will always be remembered for his goal in Istanbul, but he owed us that after consistently failing to deliver. He'd show glimpses for the odd game, then be injured or shite. That's why its fair to judge Yossi now, early last season (about Oct 2008) he would appear to take too many touches and perhaps run into the odd brick wall like Babel. However, since the turn of 2009, Yossi has been our most creative player and has been consistent week in-week out.

Even the summer hasn't thwarted his cause, Yossi deserves praise and credit for his contribution to the club and now just needs a medal of any description to reward his efforts. (sounds like his school report that doesn't it).

Of course he can improve. But its has alot to do with his confidence. Now that most of the crowd likes him and will not boo him for every lost ball, we'll see great things from him. You all know that one of those mazy runs when he goes past 3-4 defenders will eventually end with a memorable goal and after that, sky is the limit as for confidence terms :)

Seems to play better in the 'hole' behind the striker.  Not sure if he can perform at the same level if Stevie is in the squad as Stevie seems to shine in that role as well.  It really comes down to what formation you're playing and who you want to play in the 'hole'...

But overall, really impressed thus far
