I mean you think Klopp wouldn't be firing them up big time for a 2 legged game against Bayern Munich?

So basically you'd beat any team in Europe, except maybe Madrid?   So LFC will make the CL final this year?

Why not? In the big games, we show up more often than not. We are suited to playing better teams and any team that tries to come out and actually play football (like Bayern would do) can be torn apart. The way to play against us to have success is quite clear but most of the big teams have too much pride to play like that.

I would be more worried about the likes of Atletico Madrid then Bayern.

Mane and Salah would get into Rafa's teams easily.  :P We had piss poor wide options back then.

Agree totally.  We would have won the league at a canter.

Love that post

Wasn't positivity to be a super fan or for the sake of being positive

Very matter of fact and you're not wrong either. There's no reason to fear anyone

Of course we may not reach final but just knowing right now that i wouldn't be as amazed as I was in 2005 make me feel good

This is it in a nutshell.   If the league argument gets tiring, take a look at exhibit B -> the national teams.    England are not better than a quarterfinal at the moment, and haven't been so going back 27 years.

Liverpool would twat Spain. Easy

Well even that table looks a lot better than what conman posted in this thread. It is going that way, and I was sure that I read the new distribution is pretty much the same as in England.

The clause that Barca and Madrid don't take an immediate hit to their budget is somewhat understandable, but that clause would be irrelevant in 1-2 years, if it isn't already so. Yet, you won't stop seeing the cliched arguments about TV money distribution in Spain even in 5 years time. It's like the foreigner lower tax argument that persisted for years even after it was abolished in Spain and applied only to foreigners to begin with. People were asking if Alonso went to Madrid because of lower tax etc.

Sometimes, even if the real reasons for balance of footballing power in Europe is so clear, people want to find a more elaborate reasoning.

That's fair comment.

It was a preseason for us too

Bayern lost all preseason games.  Is Inter suddenly better as well?

I recall your preparation was further up along as you had a certain CL prelims to take care of.   We had half the team missing due to Confed Cup.

Anyhoo, we've beaten better Klopp teams before, I'm sure we can do it again.

Liverpool would win leagues including Juve/PSG/Bayern/Dortmund/Monaco with ease? Nonsense. Those are all excellent teams who would beat the top 4 in the PL right now, with the possible exception of Monaco after their squad was gutted.

To be fair, we did beat a Dortmund side who were much better than they are now, with a Liverpool team that's much worse than it is now.

Nah, 36 games V dross in Italy and a 2 legged title decider V Juve for the title. Much easier to win that than the PL.
Ditto France with PSG.
Ditto Bundesliga with Munich, plus a couple of decent workouts v Dortmund.

Feel a bit sorry for the player, four months is a long time.

But yeah, no sympathy for Barca, this is just about perfect. From being one of my preferred foreign clubs a decade or so ago, they've gone right up near the top of my most despised. Fuck them and  their comic entitlement. At least they've got world class replacements in Deulofeu and Paulinho. Ahem.

- We'd come 2nd/3rd in Seria A with Napoli.
- 2nd/3rd in Germany with Dortmund
- 2nd/3rd in Ligue 1 with Monaco
- 4th/5th in Spain with Sevilla (probably)

I really doubt we'd win any top league.

They are fucked, unless Messi pulls off a Maradona and single
handedly carries the attack. Suarez is headed for a fast decline,  he looks woeful in pretty much every area this season. I'm convinced he will fall off the cliff pretty sharply and not age well in his 30's.

They have started the league really well but Dembele injury will hurt them. Then again when you have Messi in your team, i suppose anything can happen. I wonder if they will be active again in the market this winter.

They just won't shut the fuck up, will they?

"I will not say how much we offered, but [Liverpool] asked for 200m euros," said Bartomeu.

"We weren't going to give €200m or €150m - we decided to step away from such an expensive market, our offer was less than €100m, with add-ons it could have reached €120m.

"Money has come into football from outside the game and made [the transfer market] more expensive, which explains what happened with Coutinho.

"We have to make these investments in La Masia and the club's academy, we must respect the rules."

Just fuck off.

Still seen enough to know that they'll be challenging for the title and will be one of the contenders for the CL.

Mate, see the posts above. Some are deluded on here beyond belief.

These are usually the same people who believe in some sort of special strength of Premiership, too. They question whether Messi would be a star (not THE star, they question if he'd be even A star ;D). They don't seem to notice that half of the "title contenders" in England are fairly mediocre teams. Incredible.

Another deluded poster. Do you really believe Barca's squad is mediocre if you take Messi out?

Barca's squad is not any worse than, say, Bayern' squad even if you take Messi out. Or that of any club in England. Plenty of great players in there.
