The Igor Bišćan appreciation thread
« on: October 26, 2010, 12:47:40 am »
"Two nil down, four two up. Igor Biscan wrapped it up..."

Remember reading a quote from him about Houllier, that Egor didn't blame him for always playing him out of position, but rather, he's grateful to the Frenchman for bringing him to England.

Will never forget his messy hair, his goal celebration against Bolton, and the game against Juventus.

Wonder how is he doing now...

When he made his debut I thought he was boss.  I think he played alongside Stevie against the mancs and I was really happy we nick him before he signed for Milan.  I always had a soft spot for the big lug.

I remember watching him, years ago. Sat at the front of the main stand, and he got clouted in the plums by the ball, after getting in the way of a clearance. It was flush as the first daffodils of the spring. It would have been intensive care for me had I been hit like that in my Yakult Factory.

Without a moment's thought, He pretty much chinned himself, let out some unearthly roar, and then chased the ball up the pitch.

One of the weirdest and funniest things I've seen on a football pitch. Mental.

An amazing tale.

What about the video in the rooms after Instanbul and he's walking around leaving very little to the imagination?

Not to mention the night tools popping out during a derby game.

Was that for real?  I'm never sure if it's a genuine photo or not.

Given everything else in this thread, I wonder if the guy used to free-ball?

Unlucky.

Some wanky tribute-metal soundtrack on this too, to add some unintented bathos.

Brilliant, but what's missing is the Fulham goal celebration, where he looks absolutely bewildered that he's scored such a stormer.

Or maybe he just always looked that way.

Plays for Dinamo Zagreb at CB now.
I get to watch their games often and it always amazes me that he's a footballer.
With a bit of luck we might meet them in Europa League if they scrape out of the group.
Would be nice that..

Only player other than Fowler that I ever had on the back of a shirt. Had it put on that god awful yellow away shirt after the Leverkusen game in 2005 due to some of his performances during our run to the final and wore it around Istanbul with pride!

Playing (and captaining) centre half back at Dinamo Zagreb now... probably the only team I actually wanted us to draw in the Europa League this season.

Mind you given my user name it's probably already clear I was a fan...

He was one of them players we groaned and moaned at but could also be a genius at times.
His general appearance used to make me chuckle, not that I am an oil painting or anything but as a few have menetioned he did always give you the impression that someone had woken him up 5mins before going on the pitch and that he needed a compass and a map to find his way round the pitch.

I will always remember Igor suddenly deciding to storm upfield on one of his runs, just as he passed the bench, and Thommo yelling after him "IIIIGGGGOOOOOOORRRRRR, NNNNNNOOOOOOO!" like he was scolding a naughty dog.

Miss him.
