Can someone confirm that Cruyff was not out there last night? Some of those turns were ridiculous! Great performance from Gini.
I’ve plenty links to the clubs playing and backroom staff as many on here know thank you very much. Fair enough, I admire your optimism. But you’re absolute ostriches if you think this squad, even with 2 or 3 new, “cut price” players with potential get us anywhere close

He is due a goal. Gets in the right positions further forward lately. A nice away goal would do nicely next week.

Someone should explain to him just how good he is, his touch is out of this world - he just needs that final bit of confidence to start taking more risks, he can afford to when he's playing in front of Hendo and Milner as they'll clean everything up

I've got a feeling that Origi is the real deal, from a couple of games I watched but mainly his interviews there seems to be something about him.

I’ve always liked Gini....I was a bit sceptical when we first signed him, but he has established himself as a very good option in midfield. He just needs to add goals to his already skilful repertoire.

I think he'll be given the AOC role in the team now and we'll see him being more aggressive in the final third.

Surprised it’s taken us this long to see him playing a more attacking role, he played as a LW for Newcastle and was pretty good there, the runs in behind he was getting yesterday was great to see! He also seems to hold off just about anyone when he’s got the ball and his turning circle is incredible!

Apart from the usual Firmino and Salah, I thought he was our best player. He’s had great perfomances for us before in big games, and yesterday was no exception. His touch was extraordinary on a few occasions last night.

This. This. This.

He's played this season like he's had a leash on. Think he'd been given a lot more freedom yesterday.

This is definitely part of it. Anyone actually paying attention this season can see that he'd been ask to play a more reserved role (especially with Coutinho and Ox often in midfield). I also think that the viral (?) infection that he had played a big part in some of his form as well. I'm the biggest Gini fan there is but you could definitely tell something was off for a while. Since he's been reintroduced he's been absolutely fantastic. I really hope that someone has instilled some more confidence in him because as people have said, he has all the talent in the world; someone just needs to show him some tape of how good he is.

Thought he made a big difference when he got on the ball in his first few minutes on the pitch.

Shrugged off challenges and made the short passes which enabled us to gain control of the midfield. Henderson and Milner had excellent games and seemed to gain confidence from Gini's presence and strength on the ball.

He did have license to move forward and seemed to revel in it. He has less minutes on the field than the other two in midfield so may play all the games from now on.

This is a really good shout. Here is the first 20 minutes of the first half midfield numbers vs the final 25 minutes of the half.

Midfield stats for 0-20 mins
Code: [Select]
Name Passes Success
Chamberlain 4 100%
Henderson 10 60%
Milner 8 38%

Nainggolan 7 100%
Strootman 7 100%
Rossi 14 79%
Our midfield failed to make a single tackle in that time until the one that saw Chamberlain go off.

Midfield stats for 20-45 mins
Code: [Select]
Name Passes Success
Wijnaldum 9 89%
Milner 23 78%
Henderson 12 75%

Nainggolan 13 92%
Rossi 16 88%
Strootman 12 67%
They made a combined 4 tackles in this second part of the half as the wrestled control of the midfield away from Roma.

Anybody see the pre-match conference with Wijnaldum. Was he coached on what to say by Milner? :D

Said effectively nothing at all. Wouldn't talk about Buvac (good lad) and said the team wasn't aware of Sean Cox until the next day, which is good the club shield them from information to keep them focused on the task too. But it was all a bit dull. For example, be was asked if he had spoke to Strootman and his answer was essentially "I spoke to him just after the game, about the game. I haven't spoken since". :D
