I would love to know how much of what Remy said is true but none the less, I echo your sentiment on rap beef, love it.

Just hope Minaj responds and doesn't do a "Meek Mill" because Remy has definitely played her part and killed this shit.

Damn, Remy killed Nicki.  7 mins of pure fire!!  I aint saying Papoose wrote it but its good that Remy can run through bars with Papoose and he can give the ok or not.

Rumours are Remy to drop another track today but I hope she doesn't.  Wait to see if Minaj responds rather than go down the Joe Budden route of releasing tracks with no response.

Where I think Minaj is kinda stuck is her image and endorsements.  Doesn't she have a deal with Disney or something?  If so surely she has to be careful of what she says?

If Minaj tries to respond with instagram posts of sales numbers etc etc then that will be the ultimate L

Speaking of diss records, are we all in agreement this is the greatest diss record of all time? I mean, this was deeper than rap music, this was associates getting killed on both sides which ultimately accumulated into two of the greatest of all time getting murdered. Pure hatred from both sides, the 90's was very real.

Even if you disagree, just listen from 3:30 and tell me that isn't some of the harshest stuff ever said on record?

Ether for me.

Ether and Takeover were both great, in different ways. I liked superugly too.

The Sauce for me is lyrically the best diss record.

Just a shame it was against one of the worst "music artists" ever.

Prime Eminem has the greatest diss records, the everlast one's, benzino, ja rule, canibus, even mariah haha. They're funny, witty, true. Just not against credible people unfortunately.

Been following Smack, KOTD, Udub and a few others over the last few years and I've never seen a thread for it.

Not sure if I have a GOAT, MF DOOM or Monch maybe, but Illmatic is my favourite hip hop album by a fair distance. It's a real shame he never did anything that even came remotely close after - probably found that he could make more money producing inferior music.

On a vaguely Nas-related note, I've been liking Your Old Droog's Packs (AndyMuller's linked to it just above, nice one mate as per). Droog's a good storyteller and a funny guy who sounds very similar to Nas - weird for a white Ukrainian ex-pat maybe, but he grew up in Brooklyn so I guess it sorta makes sense. You Can Do It (Give Up) is my beat of the year so far and it's nice to see Edan back doing musical things, even if it's mostly just producing for other rappers.

It was written was a very good album, right below Illmatic. God's Son, Life is Good and Untitled have some quality songs on there are the second tier below his first two albums.

Fair play man, and I agree actually, now I've had a good long think! All his albums are fair to very good. Still, for me, Illmatic reigns supreme. It's not just my favourite hip hop album, it may very well be my favourite album in any genre full stop; I don't think there's been a week I haven't listened to it since I first heard it back in the late nineties. After a debut like that, where do you go though?

I think that one of the reasons it is so good and so listenable even today is because it is tight, no filler, no waste, just boom.

Yeah that whole thing was weird. I mean, he's good, and his voice is pretty damn close but surely it was fairly obvious the guy wasn't Nas? Great way to get lift off for his career though. I like Droog a lot mind, he seems to have a nice line in self-deprecation (something sorely missing from most rappers, oddly enough...), but he's no Nasir Jones.

I think that one of the reasons it is so good and so listenable even today is because it is tight, no filler, no waste, just boom.

That's exactly it man, no filler. Quality description. Every track's a stunner. The rhymes, the beats, it's all nigh-on perfect.

It was written was a very good album, right below Illmatic. God's Son, Life is Good and Untitled have some quality songs on there are the second tier below his first two albums.
The lost tapes is very underrated for me aswell some great tracks on it

Ether and Takeover were both great, in different ways. I liked superugly too.

The Sauce for me is lyrically the best diss record.

Just a shame it was against one of the worst "music artists" ever.

Prime Eminem has the greatest diss records, the everlast one's, benzino, ja rule, canibus, even mariah haha. They're funny, witty, true. Just not against credible people unfortunately.

Na Canibus in his prime was a beast. He would rip up freestyles and some of the verses he would spit on collab tracks would just body every other rapper on the record.

The verse on 'beasts from the east'. Classic!!!

Quote
01. Free Smoke
02. No Long Talk feat. Giggs
03. Passionfruit
04. Jorja Interlude
05. Get It Together
06. Madiba Riddim
07. Blem
08. 4422 feat. Sampha
09. Gyalchester
10. Skepta Interlude
11. Portland feat. Quavo & Travis Scott
12. Sacrifices feat. 2 Chainz & Young Thug
13. Nothings Into Somthings
14. Teenage Fever
15. KMT feat. Giggs
16. Lose You
17. Can't Have Everything
18. Glow feat. Kanye West
19. Since Way Back
20. Fake Love
21. Ice Melts feat. Young Thug
22. Do Not Disturb

Giggs is so whack.  Guy gets on the Drake album and comes with some weak nursery rhyme bars.

Man the UK has some dope emcees, shame they never get pushed though.

I was never that into canibus although I bumped some of his earlier stuff it soon wore off, although I liked where he went in on LL.

Saying that though canibitch is one of the funniest records too.

20 years today Biggie died. Man I feel old.

Faith Evans is dropping an album singing alongside unreleased recordings of Biggie.
