Brazil's 2nd goal by Alves on his left foot with a smart drive into the far corner - https://twitter.com/voetbalformat. Scored 2 minutes into injury time. 2-2 full time.

Brazil nearly get a winner with the last kick of the game too.

After every team has played 6 games in the group there is only 4 points between the leaders and the team in 7th :)

Some intriguing games in the next round on the 28th August too:-

Argentina vs Uruguay
Bolivia vs Peru
Colombia vs Venezuela
Ecuador vs Brazil
Paraguay vs Chile

After six rounds of qualifiers...

Uruguay has the best shots-per-goal average (5.8 ), scored the most goals (12) and has received the least amount of goals (4), the lowest amount of yellow cards (10) and no red cards. It also has the lowest ball possession average in the tournament (37.59%). :o
"I look at him doing all sorts of crazy shit and mostly I burst out laughing at his insane genius.
I mean, if his first reaction to a ball bouncing in front of him 40 yards from goal is 'I'm going to whack this into the net from here', you just have to laugh at the sheer improbability of it all."

Brazil won 3-0 away in Ecuador with two goals from Gabriel Jesus and one from Neymar.

Colombia beat Venezuela 2-0 and missed two penalties in the game.

Argentina playing Uruguay at the moment, the game just kicked off and back to back Copa America champs Chile are in action away to Paraguay tonight.

^ good win for Brazil that, especially away vs Ecuador. Nice to see Tite give Gabriel Jesus a go after doing well in the Olympic Footy tournament - and scored 2 late on after Ecuador went down to 10 men.

Surprised to see Mascherano back for Argentina - thought he'd stay retired after the Copa America.

Argentina XI: Romero, Zabaleta, Otamendi, Funes Morí, Mas, Mascherano, Biglia, Messi, Dybala, Di Maria, Pratto
Uruguay XI: Muslera; Fucile, Godin, Giménez, Silva; Sánchez, Ríos, Corujo, Lodeiro; Suárez, Cavani.

1-0 after 43 mins. Some bloke called Messi scored - https://twitter.com/BarcaSpiral/status/771501756840837120 & https://twitter.com/ArenaVisionHD/status/771502366159929344

Good performance by Brasil, first win in Quito in 33 years and a convincing one at that. Ecuador didn't get a sniff in.

Sadly Tite continues the tradition of fielding some inexplicable choices in midfield, players who have a knack for being current or former Corinthians players.

Coutinho came on in the second half and made a decent impact, could have had two as well. His link up play with Neymar is just so smooth. It just makes me even angrier about bloody Renato Augusto and fucking Paulinho starting instead of Phil in his Iniesta-lite role.

Gabriel Jesus had his debut today, got Brazil a pen and scored twice - both very good finishes as well.

That Pratto guy starting for Argentina said he considered playing for Brazil (he plays in the Brazilian league and could naturalise within a year or so). You can imagine how well that went down.

Messi scores via a deflected shot (spawny c*nts) and Dybala is sent off for a second booking. Second half should be tasty.

Dybala sent off on his debut for Argentina just before half time. 2nd yellow card - the lad is in tears. https://twitter.com/beINSPORTS_AUS/status/771502627162951680

1-0 to Argentina at 60 mins in.

Paraguay XI: Barreto; Moreira, Gómez, Da Silva, Candía; Ayala, Rojas, Riveros, Romero; Lezcano, Santander

Argentina 1 - 0 Uruguay. full time. http://www.fullmatchesandshows.com/2016/09/02/argentina-vs-uruguay-highlights-full-match-2/

Mascherano made it look like Argentina still had 11 men on the pitch - some superb chasing down and pressuring the Uruguayan players so they go back to the gk.
Uruguay didn't really go for it or press back Argentina in the 2nd half - even with a man advantage. Suarez too isolated when he did eventually get the ball.

Round 8 is next Tuesday night / early hours of Wednesday morning (UK day and times):-

Venezuela   vs Argentina - 12 midnight
Uruguay vs Paraguay    - 12 midnight
Chile vs Bolivia - 12.30am
Brazil vs Colombia - 1.45am (hope Coutinho gets some more game time - and does well again)
Peru vs Ecuador - 3.15am

Gabriel Jesus really does look the business. Terrific movement as well. I think Brazil finally have a decent striker, probably the first since Ronaldo I reckon.

Apparently Mascherano had a stomer against Uruguay from what I've read. His passing is really underrated, he's sublime at it.

I watched Ecuador vs Brazil (10pm kick off, a lot easier). Tite's new coach looks to be a good appointment. Not sure about his selection though, players like Paulinho shouldn't be anywhere near the side.

Our Coutinho came on and improved their side with this passing and link up play. He had two good chances to score himself after he dribbled past a few players and had a shot.

Neymar with a goal and assist, Jesus with the brace but my man-of-the-match is Marquinhos, what a player, saved Brazil's bacon a few times and owned  Ecuador's attack all game. He's lightning quick, technical and aggressive, dream CB.

Marquinhos is ridiculous. He's been starting in Europe for 4 seasons now (3 for PSG, 1 at Roma) and he's only 22! Can play fullback as well. Hope he leaves France before too long.

Paulinho and Renato Augusto. Can't take that, every single manager is somehow obliged to keep starting utter trash ruining what could be a decent team.

The way Oscar is playing for Chelsea in a midfield 3 under Conte, if he's to play 3 in midfield, there's no better option, Chelsea are flying with Kante and Oscar, even allowing for a lethargic Matic in there too.

Neymar's record for Brazil is insane, it's funny that him and Bale are the side act at that big two in Spain but for their national teams they perform far better than Messi and Ronaldo have ever done.

Looking forward to it. Still pondering on whether or not to stay up so I can see Phil play; or just wait and watch the full match tomorrow online.

Ecuador 2-0 up on Chile inside the first half, Chile are in real danger of not qualifying for the World Cup on current form.

Ecuador 3-0 up now, crazy to think this is the same Chile side that won the Copa America two years in a row, the one they won this year was also under their current coach Pizzi.

Even though I mentioned the fact that Pizzi won the Copa America this year, I don't think they have been anywhere near the level they were under Sampaoli apart from the knockout stages of this year's Copa America.

Despite the fact Ecuador are battering Chile, Ener Valencia is managing to play like he's a fan in full kit plucked from the crowd.

:D  He was certainly different!

Lodeiro's goal for Uruguay (a great ball in from Suarez) on 29 mins vs Venezuela - https://twitter.com/azzainura/status/784177495411228672

2-0 to Uruguay - Cavani has scored (honest, he has, it wasn't a fluke either - a shot on goal that didn't go wide, or hit straight at the gk, or deflected in etc - but a proper goal - by Cavani. Yes, I know he usually has the aim of an Imperial Stormtrooper - but this occasion he hit the target - and the ball actually went in the back of the net. Cavani!), 46mins in - https://twitter.com/UruguayanHeroes/status/784184630274654209

Enner Valencia was wanted for failure to pay child support so the police came on the pitch to arrest him, he faked his own injury and escaped the field in an ambulance.

3-0 to Uruguay - Cavani again!!! - on 80 mins - https://twitter.com/lourdesmarlens/status/784193230057443328

Given what Y2J just posted about Valencia faking an injury during a game to try and avoid arrest - I'm going for the theory that Cavani hasn't scored these 2 goals tonight - but one of the characters from Dogtanian and the 3 Muskehounds who resembles him (or his hair anyway) has replaced him - and showed the real Cavani how it's done.

a bad miss from Venezuela striker through on goal (Cavani style ;)) - https://twitter.com/oussamaderkal/status/784192527465377792
