Half time: Liverpool 1-0 Southampton
« on: February 28, 2024, 08:47:33 pm »
Every bit as disjointed as you'd have expected given the line-up but we got better as the half went on and capped the half with a wonderful moment for young Koumas. Rode our luck a bit at times but it was never going to be all plain sailing.

Fingers crossed we can get the job finished in 90 minutes.
I've just wiped the sticky residue from my bellend onto the television screen. Taste it Leo. You deserve it.
I would honestly let Wijnaldum jizz in my face right now

Cannot believe we have somehow kept a clean sheet here.

I think we will need one more senior in the middle if we want to keep this lead.

bit more composed towards the end and got a goal.

Hopefully we can keep it tight and sneak another. Southampton have been good but look like they put a lot of effort into that.

Not bad considering the injuries. Nowhere near what we'd be with the first team, but that's expected.

Great for Koumas to get that goal, although the deflection helped, still nice for him.

So proud of the lads so far, not been the best performance but what do you expect given the lineup and the lack of rest. Brilliant for Koumas!

On a less cheery note Pawson and certainly Ali McCoist can fuck off

Kelleher kept us in this at the beginning and we started to play much better as the game went on. Very nice moment for Koumas.

I said in the commentary I've been excited about Koumas getting a chance, he's been in great form recently. Lovely to see him tuck the chance away and great work by Clark for the assist as well. Perhaps we need work on the midfield a bit, but we did start coming into the game just before half time. Kelleher has been class once again.

What a lovely goal, but fuck me we look shattered, can’t imagine us doing extra time.

Gakpo really needs to do more as the senior forward.

Gomez isn’t a 6.

Disjointed at times and riding our luck a bit, but the kids put on a great display. If anything it's senior players like Joe (admittedly in a new position), Kostas and Gakpo who are struggling.

Up the young reds!

Done well there overall. Important to take a lead into half time as they've got the stronger bench and we'll presumably take Virg off.

These over play at the back but we haven't quite took advantage. They've found it easy at the other end at times to get through and could have punished if they picked a stronger team.

Looks like 2 sets of reserves/kids playing. Almost a preseason feel. We've done OK, a little disjointed. We should have enough to see it through. Well done to the young lads so far.

Been working late so only started watching in the last 10 minutes. Great time to tune in. Lovely goal by Koumas, great work in the build-up.

Mad line-up. You know things are bad on the injury front when you have to bring Joe into midfield. Good on him for stepping up. He's been one of our unsung heroes this season.

Koumas with a goal on his debut. Great stuff!
Other than that I think Southampton have been better so far. They are playing a dangerous game in their buildup, but have been successful so far. Good saves from Kelleher and a bit of luck with the post is why we have the lead. I expect some adjustments for the second half. Suspect we will see a change in CM.

I don't think they are to out of the game, the positioning just isnt great, which is understandable with added nerves. Half time chat and I think we'll do a lot better second half

Great goal for the young debutant. We have grown into the match after Southampton started better and probably should have put one away.

Southampton look a good side and the way they play out from the back is quite something. They will feel as though they are in the game and have a great chance at a win.

We should keep improving, just wondering if Sundays match will have an effect on fitness levels late in the game?
