Shows the spirit of this team that I still think we can do it, though, especially if the ref decides that he won't be "spoiling the game" by booking Chilwell early on for that foul to stop Bradley breaking into the box, or for Caicedo going studs-up on Gravenberch's ankle.

Yep feels like we are cursed at the moment. The flip side is if we win the confidence it will give the squad plus the boost of players coming back plus the context of it being the last dance could mean it creates a wave of emotion and belief that drives us to more trophies

Yep. On Sky they suggested he saw it and played advantage but then later said he was asking VAR what happened.

And why the fuck did Chilwell avoid a yellow early in the half for taking Bradley out when he nicked the ball and was in a dangerous area running towards their box? The Caicedo non booking is inexplicable. Committed 2 fouls after and he still didn't take the opportunity to book him, even though he was on 5/6 fouls for the half.

I said it during the week it was really nice to have a match with decent refereeing. The fact it was the first game in god knows how long when the referee didn't influence the game was refreshing. Back to normal now unfortunately

Chelsea fouled from the first minute when we had the ball in our own area. Template was set.

The referee as usual won’t issue cards early on to stop this type of play and they know it.

To not blow for the foul on Gravenberch was criminal but it’s just the way he reffed or didn’t ref the game.

Not sure how we counter this absence of proper application of the laws by this bunch of hopeless refs.
