Female co-lead. Though Sissy Spacek narrates the film as well, so she might well be the lead. Either way, I'm up to quota. Half the reason I let Apocalypse Now (& Sheen) go past me at the start of the draft was so I could pick up this film. I wonder if I'm the only person to actually see it though!

A Clockwork Orange

Last of my catch up picks and one that I'm amazed has gone unpicked. I love a good anarchic film and this one ticks all the boxes. One of two Malcolm McDowell films that I was seriously weighing up. The other one I'll mention later as I doubt it will get picked.

Is it a sports movie? Is it a heist movie? Is it a love story? Is it a monochrome buddy story?

If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

JAWS (1975)

So glad I got to pick Jaws. A true heavyweight Horror/thriller that still to this day has me on the edge of my seat every time I watch it, even though I know what's about to happen.

Stellar performances from the 3 lead actors, A boss script, superb story telling and more importantly, a big rubber, daft looking shark that thanks to Spielberg's direction and foreshadowing would still frighten the shit out of kids new to the movie even today.

I also get to post one of the most iconic Movie Posters of all time. :)

Exercise is to the body what reading is to the mind.

"If I hadn't doped, I would never have won". "Doping improves your performance between 5 and 7 per cent, and maybe 10 to 12 per cent when you are in a peak shape.

"Doping isn't addictive but it's an instrument of power: whoever wins attracts the money; for themselves, the team and the sponsors"

Foreign film: The Wages of Fear

This is French, black and white, from the 50's and it has that forbidding name, so I always think people assume it's a highbrow boreathon when actually, it's a thrilling adventure film. Four guys are tasked with delivering two trucks of old, unstable nitroglycerin across rocky mountain paths to put out an oil fire. It's the only way they'll be able to afford to get out of the isolated town in which they're trapped. One of my all-time favourites. Friedkin remade it as Sorcerer in the 70's with Roy Scheider.

Listen to your friend Jonathan Ross. He's a cool dude:

Probably not the greatest or most obvious crime comedy, but I really like it and it's probably the only film I'd have a better than evens chance of quoting all the way through - it used to be our post-pub get stoned film when I was at uni so I've watched it a stupid amount of times. An immensely quotable ensemble comedy that has attained cult status over the years, and has an unusual comedic performance from the great Brian Cox.
