Halfway thru Oxyana.

That's some powerful stuff. Horrible.

Just watched it and fucking hell, powerful stuff indeed. Feel a bit shaken up.

It's very old (1995) but BBC's The death of Yugoslavia is very, very good. Only watched the first two episodes but so far it's very interesting.

Really want to see this Dave but 6.4 from this... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2473486/
Got to be better than that....

Was blown away by 'The house we live in' so thanks for that, hope you are good mate.  :)
It's a lot like The House but it's less big picture.I loved it J,it's heart breaking in part's..but an important look at a drug problem that's little known.

As everyone knows I torrent or dl everything but documentaries like this need supporting so I buy them or stream them from the docu sites.

It's available to stream from here for $3.99,you'll have to register but it's free and easy.

I'm always good mate, thanks.Hope you and yours are good J. :wave

Yeah mate, depressing as fuck, i started off not really liking the people but come the end i had nothing but sympathy for them, some of the shit they go through daily, unreal, like another world really, i'm very much a person who thinks "you should help yourself, no excuses for the situation etc" but with these people, i felt so sorry for, no chance really, any of them

Watched it months ago when I was looking for a detailed look at the former Yugoslavia and how the civil war started and escalated. Thought it was very good.

Had never heard of Shoah, till I read in the Grauniad  that it had been voted best ever documentary in one of their recent best ever wotsits. So I started watching it, as it's a subject matter that interests me alot... Nazi occupation, Death Camps etc - and it is magnetic. It's 9 hours long. I only watched an hour or so of it. One day, when my children are at school, and I can get some semblance of my life back, I will watch this.

Just watched The Act of Killing.

Not even sure what to feel. Was utterly horrific and chilling, yet truly mesmerising.

Seen it weeks back and I still find my mind wandering to think about it on occasion. I haven't seen anything which so profoundly effected me in a long time. I have taken great solace in reading around the film a little more to find out the kind of importance it has been to changing perception in Indonesia and that the director was always making it with a view to changing things within the country.

He also though ends up making a fascinating doc for the viewer. The two marry very well and this ends up as an important piece of history for the country while also challenging the viewer to think about big questions which are asked in a complicated layer way. While bringing the story of a forgotten history into light also examines the very essence of how we arrived at that point. This isn't a historical recreation but an examination of memory, how history is created, society, human mind and much much more.

Good article by Errol Morris - http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/history/2013/07/the_act_of_killing_essay_how_indonesia_s_mass_killings_could_have_slowed.html

Good shout. Saw it the other day. Actually makes you hate SeaWorld with a passion.

It's all over the news right now as well because the likes of Heart, REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick and Willie Nelson have all dropped out of some show that they were scheduled to play at Seaworld Orlando after watching it.
