😂

I have to point out that I have never run through it, but I've cycled a couple of times recently when the trains were off.

I understand the appeal of running through it, its something you don't get to do every day, but honestly don't think its a good place for a run.

It would be good fun as long as you're wearing a gas mask (or at least one of those masks that Galen Rupp wears for some road races).

Well done Alan. Great write up. Must have taken longer than the race though ;-)

I've got some Ultra training planned late September around Chamonix if you fancy some Alpine plods - Open to anyone in fact - Going out on my own at the moment. Not that it matters. Stunning trails.

Palace :)

Thanks guys - knee and hip feel ok, my muscles are just really sore. Like after a marathon but a lot worse!

I'm just resting and trying to not eat too much bad food at least!

Good stuff. I did 7 miles with a backpack to Katherines last night at 9min miles and thought I was going to keel over... 🤣

The only thing about running while staying at my folks is trying to fit the runs in between my mum feeding me!  Mums never want to stop looking after you, do they?

Oh, and secondly, it seems we've been stuck in some raincloud up here for 3 days; constant drizzle.  I ran down the hill yesterday and it was dry...

Mr B: I think I'll definitely do another one, but it will be next year.

Plan for this year is Abingdon on 22nd October. However I'm doing the 12 week P&D plan rather than the 18 week one as it would already have started! 12w plan starts 31 July so I've got a whole month off to recover which is nice.

Have you any plans for an autumn race?

Weebroalan: I'll see you at Abo hopefully. Like you, I'll be following a 12 week schedule as an injury post Dorchester and Glastonbury festival got in the way. I've just started doing a few miles now but was wiped out totally  after Glasto. I've got Green Man festival in Aug, at which I'm hoping to be able to get a few runs in as it won't be as much walking as Glasto. Look forward to seeing you there.

Always a good race that one - good luck with sub-55!

The (hilly) Jess Ennis ran 10k at Chatsworth House for me. Was going to do Leeds but got a freebie for this one so went with the saved pennies...

anyone see this ?   a most eventful morning run
Literally running for his life :)

My mate once tried to overtake a lady at the end of a 10km and just couldn't get past her in the end. He congratulated her at the end and asked her where she got her strong finish from - she says "I just imagine that the guy behind me is chasing me to rape me so that gives me the added boost to finish strongly," "so you just imagined I was a rapist chasing you down" "yes - works evertime, unless Its a another lady chasing me"  :-X

Can't say its a tactic I've employed  :D

Daniel:
ITB Rehab video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydcy3dPf__M

Doing this routine has worked wonders, thanks so much for the link. I'l swear even walking around is different, can't recommend it high enough to runners and non runners alike, so many little pains and tweaks around the hip when your doing awkward movements have just vanished.

Have done about 3 10ks since and a 15k tonite in around 76 mins (albeit on grass) and no knee pain in any run , fingers crossed thats it gone. i'l keep doing that for sure tho

So did Leeds 10k this morning. Absolutely baking hot!

53:56, another PB ;D five minutes quicker than I did it last year and over a minute quicker than my previously best 10k.

York 10k four weeks today, think I'll sign up. If it was 10 degrees cooler I think 50 is without reach...

Well done Jake. Definitely sign up for the next one and keep the momentum going. 10kms will also help your parkrun times.

My wee girl has just turned 4 so took her along to junior parkrun and she loved it. Great atmosphere with all the marshalls high fiving everyone. We'll definitely be back!

9 miles in the heat today - was 28 degrees here today which isn't the most pleasant to run in. Legs beginning to feel a bit better now. Hopefully next week I can put a decent week together.

tucker: I get one a month whenever I'm in training. For me they are invaluable - I would go as far to say I wouldn't have gotten to the start line of any recent races in good shape without them. I've had so many knee, hip, calve, foot problems sorted. But it does depend on who is doing it so get a good one if you can - my guy is excellent, he's one of the therapists for One Pro cycling team so he is very experienced.

tucker: I get one occasionally but not very often, I find they're helpful after a good block of training or a big race, just to give the legs a bit of a service. It's not going to help improve your running, it might help keep you fit.

tucker:  I've never had one, but would consider it once a month, say, the next time I'm in training.  Like Old says, I can't see how it would help running directly, but I could see it might help with niggles, tightness or fatigue.  We batter our lower legs when training, so there's no harm in doing what you can to give them some TLC.
