Spot on mate..dodnt he pull off an amazing save from Volgts at 1-1?

Hard  read all the stuff about him cos of the tears in my eyes.

Think he made the save from Uli Stielike it's about 3 minutes in on the youtube clip.

I'm like you mate, I'm finding it hard not to burst into tears here.

An absolute, no doubt, legend of the club. You only have to look at that reception when he came back to play for Spurs to understand what he meant to the Kop. Unfortunately, the only time I saw him play was in the Spurs shirt, but he was adored by all at Anfield. Alisson the nearest we've had to this man since. RIP Ray  :'( :champ

I mentioned on here a few pages ago that I had the pleasure of meeting Ray and spent a couple of hours with him watching a local County FA final. He was an absolute gentleman and having supported the Reds since the early 60s agree with those who say he’s the best no 1 we have had.
I am devastated by this news but know that in due time all those that knew him will take comfort in the Kop’s reception on his return, he was appreciated. RIP Ray.

Legend doesn't describe his sheer brilliance. 1978-79, he only let in 16 goals in a 42 game season - in 21 home games he let in FOUR goals. He was the complete keeper, and rightly is the yardstick for all future LFC keepers. I grew up with Bruce in goal and thought he was the best, but my granddad (a Kemlyn Road regular for decades) could never look beyond Clem. He would not look out of place in the modern game.

A sad day, but hopefully he is now at peace. Thanks Clem, you'll never walk alone.

A true club legend. Wonderfully agile, self-effacing and a great ambassador for the game. Just before kick-off he'd always jump up, touch the bar, then run out to the six-yard box and jump onto his haunches. Happy memories... We certainly got some outstanding players from Scunthorpe!

Condolences to his family.

RIP Ray,

We've had our share of great goal keepers, but he will always the main one for me..

Had the opportunity of being at one of his "football school" thing, and it was an absolute pleasure..He wasn't too happy when I came in shorts though... "we're here to train properly son, so go and get changed"
It’s not even about individuality, it’s about the team. Our game was based on his controlling of the tempo. Squeeze the life out of the opposition and then strike. That is our game. Like a pack of pythons.

Devastating news. We were privileged to have one of the greatest ever keepers in world football, play so long and with such distinction for our club. The term 'legend' is bandied about so casually these days, but Clem is a true legend in the history of LFC. We still loved him when he moved on to Spurs, at a time when his career was far from over. How many players in the current game would we hold that affection for, if that was to happen today? He was one of us and would remain one of us no matter what.

Very sad day. RIP Clem. Sincere condolences to family and friends.

In the boys pen late sixties early seventies not sure what year I saw him fly backwards through the air to tip over a header from Jimmy Greaves. Truly amazing save which had us talking about it all the way home on the bus.

Went on to have a wonderful Liverpool career. I'm really very sad. RIP
