What an awful disease and what a beautiful strong girl who deserves our full support. Fair deuce to Greame for shining a light on it all and nothing but respect for him. Absolute legend

Souness seemed to enjoy himself over in Turkey this weekend.  He recreated his iconic flag waving celebrations for Galatasaray's title win.

Good luck to Souness on his Channel swim, I bet the jelly fish will get out of his way once they know he’s on the water. What an absolutely great player he was for us.

Been a LFC supporter for neigh on 50 years. Definitely one of my all time favourite Liverpool players.
Yes he was not a great manager but definitely one of the best players ever to put on a red jersey.

All is forgiven in my eyes

Seems to have softened in his old age. He will always be a divisive character, although I don't think he has shied away from his mistakes.

Hope he smashes the swim and raises a load of money.

If it wasn't for that one thing, there'd be a big flag of him on the Kop holding the 84 European Cup (one handed) above his head.

He did a few other things that angered some of our support, e.g. calling for national service during Heysel, as well. It doesn't help that he's a Tory, but let's face it. Almost every player in our team, of that era was a Tory.

I can forgive him. He's 70 now so I'd like to see a tribute to him on the Kop. But not sure how it'd go down.

With me 3 star jumper half way up me back!

Graeme deserves tremendous credit for the work he's doing to raise money for Debra. It's a condition that probably leaves sufferers pretty much suicidal at times and with little quality of life. This is Souness' greatest life work - more impactful than any ball he's ever kicked for us.

Keep fighting the good fight Souey - this is how influence should be used. For the betterment of humanity.

Souness was on the Simon Jordan podcast. He still doesn't get what he did wrong over the interview with that newspaper. He thinks the furore is over the date the interview was released. Surely the outrage is that he gave that newspaper in the first place. On another note I do wonder about his recall. He states when he took the Liverpool job they hadn't won anything for a while. We were reigning league champions when he took over.

Would be the first name on the mythical team sheet for a must win match.

It was a huge wound but I'd love to see it mended.

He knows it was a huge fuck up and shouldn't have been forgotten but I believe he knows the pain he caused and regrets it massively.

He's a club legend and of course getting no younger, and you never know how long you're going to get with someone even if they're fit and healthy.

One day hopefully he can walk on the pitch again. Some might not forgive him and fair enough but I'd like to see it happen.

Made of steel and he could friggin' play as well.
Always remember his expression as he led the team out v Roma 1984 European Cup final at their home ground.
He had the look of a man who was so sure he would be leaving that stadium with that trophy, and it rubbed off on his teammates.

Like others have said...in a team of LFC legends / heroes...its Souey first...and then ten others.
They have life in them, they have humour, they're arrogant, they're cocky and they're proud. And that's what I want my team to be.

Everyone thought that Souness would fall in with the usual pattern. There'd have to be a learning period. Both Ray Kennedy and Terry McDermott before him had served a probationary term before they established themselves in the first team. But Souness played and stayed. That combination of steel and silk is what all great Liverpool midfielders have aspired to since.

I like that the club are mending fences with him (and he's admitted his mistakes).

Why wouldn't you want one of your greatest ever players to be in an around the club?

He shed real tears when Liverpool won the title again in 2020 and has been a supporter of ours in the media.

And so what if he says some dumb things here and there when on TV in a pundit role - they all do without fail.

He realised his blunder very quickly, and he has been contrite over it ever since. Unlike many modern players who will obfuscate, excuse, explain and employ all sorts of mental gymnastics to explain bad decisions and just refuse to admit they ballsed up big time.

I hope a certain other former LFC captain(s) never darken Anfield's doors again.

what did he say?

Parahphrasing "Saudis are involved in every aspect in our society in Britain, from the government to newspapers, etc.. Why would we reject it in Sport?"

He did say that he wouldnt have done what Henderson did (going to Saudi after wearing rainbow armband) but when asked if he would have managed there he said yes.
