I may not have known her, may not have talked to her before, but she feels like far from a stranger to me. Seeing this thread, and the article in liverpoolfc.tv brings back this particular memory from almost a year back...
One day in December last year, I suddenly received an envelope in the mail with the postage marked from "Liverpool". I was undoubtedly very excited, because who could have sent me that? I knew nobody in Liverpool, and I just wondered what was inside. I opened the envelope, and to my great amazement and surprise, I pulled out this autographed picture of Michael Owen. By then, it was already 4 months since Owen had left. I was totally shell-shocked, and then I found a note along with it. It read, "I noticed you had emailed Michael Owen a lot and thought you might like this."
Just one sentence, no indication on who it was from, except that it was obviously someone from liverpoolfc.tv, because the note had the official website address printed on top.
In great excitement, I proceeded to ask on the liverpoolfc.tv forum, trying to find out who was that kind soul who mailed me that. It didn't take long before one of the staff there replied that it could have been this woman called Cherith, who had dozens of letters addressed to all parts of the world left on her desk at her office, and they mailed them out to fulfil her last wishes.
I won't be the first to say this, but this amazing woman obviously had such a big heart that she was able to touch so many lives. She even had the capability of bringing smiles to complete strangers living thousands of miles away.
I know that she'd be able to hear me somewhere up there... so Cherith, if you really were the one who sent me that, I just want to say a big "Thank You"...
RIP and YNWA.
