The ball won't run true on that pitch - so players can't let the ball roll out of play as they normally would - and will likely have 'to lift' most of their passes.

The match tonight is at the Estadio Hernando Siles stadium, in La Paz - 3,640m above sea level (circa 12,000 ft) - not easy for anyone, that.

And some people say South American footy is 'boring and nothing happens'...

This was the pitch for a 2018 World Cup Qualifier between Ecuador v Bolivia... that was a fun match to watch!

Long way to go at altitude, but that was a banger.

Can't imagine the heavy rainfall and standing water will make playing at altitude any easier; likely that the Chilean wheels will be metaphorically falling off even earlier than usual due to heavy, water-logged footwear...

What can I say? Big Ben Brereton remains a highlight... what a guy, indeed. He runs and runs and takes defenders on as if the altitude were no issue at all.

The state of the pitch means the ball bounces incredibly weird and randomly stops in a puddle. It's frustrating our players can't even take that into account before kicking the ball. Their goal was born out of one of those unnecessary mistakes.

Still an entire half to play. Hopefully we don't gift them the victory.
