If we’re letting Origi go because we’re relying on Sturridge being fit for the rest of the season that is a mistake IMO. If we are serious about staying in the FA Cup there could still be a lot of games to play.

I know Ox will be like a new signing but I can’t see him playing before March.

There’s literally not one even remotely legitimate link for Origi leaving  ;D

Might want to leave the hand wringing until there is?
I believe the average spend will go up £5 ahead and that’s being very conservative. So that’s £185k. Then you have a new 25k who will spend £10 a head that’s £250k. This is without the massively enhanced hospitality areas.

True. Tonight's team selection will probably tell us a lot (although if it's Fulham interested, I suppose being cup tied isn't an issue)
Better than the Invincibles.
Better than Mourinho's Chelsea.
Better than the fabled Man Utd treble team.

I'm alright with that.

Hopefully he has a good 2nd half to the season.  Would probably be good for him to look at getting a permanent move so he can start his career somewhere.  He's a good young player but, considering the level our midfield is playing at, I don't think he's quite up to the required level to play for us.

Origi’s got another 18 months on his contract here according to this.

Would mean we signed him on a 6 year deal which seems particularly long.

Seems to be right though.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/08/22/liverpool-will-loan-divock-origi-borussia-dortmund-german-club/amp/

He did spend the first year back at Lille on loan so five years on top of that for a player of his age when he signed doesn’t seem unrealistic.

There does seem to be a bit of confusion over contracts though, most places seem to have listed Milner’s as expiring this summer but James Pearce insists it’s 2020.

He's played 72 minutes this season. Whilst 6 of those minutes were glorious; I really do not think he will be missed.

Probably not. He's made one PL start and been on the bench another seven times (and only came on in one game, can't remember which...)

In the Champions League, he came on at Red Star away and was an unused substitute twice more.

So he won't be missed in terms of minutes, although it does mean one less attacking option on the bench in a lot of games. Although if the manager rarely turns to him, what does it matter?

Bit risky to assume that our attack will stay as injury free as they did in the first half of the season. Think it made sense to let one of Solanke or Origi go without a replacement but not both. Really hope we bring in another attacking body if Origi goes.

If we're honest Ejaria is going nowhere fast. I'm not convinced he'll ever be good enough to make it here, so I hope this loan deal goes well so we can potentially fetch a respectable fee in the summer.

If something happens with Origi this month i hope we can recall Wilson from Derby to offer some forward cover, late game sub appearance to give the starters a rest etc.

They're not exactly playing in the same positions but Wilson has been scoring in the Championship for 2 clubs now at a rate of 1 goal in 2 games pretty consistently which for a non striker is pretty good,he is going to be 22 soon so in that respect should be ready if he's ever going to be.

True. And anyway, he can come in and do a job for the odd game. And also, we can bring him in after we've wrapped up the league in order to rest others for the Champions League final.

Every media report I've seen says £15m not £25m, but either way it seems mad to be cutting our squad at this point of the season. It only takes an injury or two and we're at bare bones. I wouldn't have even let Clyne go, not when he's finally fit again and ready to start logging minutes.
Pretty much where I am with the whole thing. He's pretty much our only pacy option up front too, and I think that's quite useful for the way we play, unless Klopp has a lot of faith in Brewster, and who knows how he'll return from injury? We'd probably be ok, as long as every front player stays fit, but we're taking a bit of a risk there I think, and it would be nice to have an occasional rotation option for Salah and Mane. Not that Origi's ideal for that role either, but Shaqiri seems better centrally and Lallana never seems to play well for us out wide.

I dunno. Like I say, we'd probably be fine without him, but I'm not sure the risk is worth it. For me, anyway, though I know others see it differently. He's probably not someone we'd miss in the long term, but short term I think we'd be better served keeping him around. Not sure it's worth stripping the squad down to the bare bones just yet, considering we're still in three competitions, two of which I assume we're taking very seriously.

Unless the £19M for Solanke and the £20m (ish) for Origi is going towards another/new player this window?

A pacey left sided attacking player would be very nice.

From a couple weeks ago, could make sense and fits the age profile of the squad.  Might explain the willingness to move on Origi without then blocking Brewster with a replacement.

Can't remember what rag my browser linked me to with that info a couple of weeks back but it's on the internets so it must be true.

Origi, Solanke & Clyne all out or going. to be honest, I'm totally happy for them. Did what they were told, worked hard, deserve a chance somewhere. Best of luck to them all!!  :wave

I don't believe it will happen. A good player, but not an upgrade on Sturridge/Original/Ings and not that young. His agent constantly links players with Liverpool for some reason.

Is the "Nobody" fella we're signing this January any good? Any Youtube welcome to Liverpool FC videos yet?  :wave

As far as Dabbur goes, we should aim higher than that in summer. To be playing in the Austrian league at his age probably suggests he'd be no better than Ings or Origi anyway. Had he been 20-21 and rocking the Champions League in the mould of Salah and Shaqiri while in the Swiss league of similar quality however, it'd been a different story. I'm sure Dabbur would be a great signing for Southampton for example, in any case.

I'm on board with Origi and Solanke leaving as they are kicking their heels at Liverpool at the moment and need to try to get on with their careers. Brewster is different as he has a few years to go before he reaches that sort of crossroads.

If Origi leaves this window, it would appear we are short up front. Hopefully Werner is signed as he would make an excellent and versatile fourth option, and really give us quality to rotate without skipping a beat. Then Sturridge and an emerging Brewster can be the back ups.

If no Werner, or other new signing, it looks a bit too risky to be selling Origi in January. On the other hand he's hardly used at all, and this could be the chance to get a few bob for him. I'll chilled either way, but I'd probably keep him for now if there's no other incoming.

Yep, Any news will probably come from foreign press leaked by the selling club. I doubt the likes of Pearce, Joyce etc will get any information till the club is ready to announce it.
