Nice to get some rest before two extremely important away games! I think from our midfielders he is the only one who will start both, with Naby and Ox at Bournemouth and with Gini and Milly at Salzburg.

He did very well when coming on. Shame about the assists. We need our midfielders to get in amongst the goals more :)

Great performance when he came in, very composed and up to his usual levels of energy. Really should have had two assists with the Mane misses.

Yup, Hendo was excellent when he came on, but also nice he didn't have to play the full intensive match. he's going to be leaned on heavily in this mad run coming up this month.  So to get a break last night was great.

That’s his 6 big chance created so far in the league, which is tied for the 8th best in the league. Only Trent, Bobby and Mane have created more for us. The rest of our midfielders have created 3 between them. For someone who has been “Horrible” with the ball and provides no creativity, those are quite impressive numbers.

He was MOTM for me. He was superb from start to finish and that pass was filth. I heard someone on social media describe that pass as a long diagonal fucking hell can you imagine someone saying that if it was Gerrard or Pirlo. It was inch perfect and like Degsy's in the derby but they are both whipping boys so dont get the credit. Hendo is on a mission to lift this title in May.

He is fantastic in that number 8 role when he is facing play. I still think he sometimes is too slow on the turn, otherwise he got everything else in his locker and he is a real leader out on the pitch.

Was furious with how slow he played today and then he made that pass for Ox and he immediately shut my stupid criticism down.

Hendo doesn't lack skill or quality. He can do everything with a ball you would want from a midfielder. All he lacks is a bit of composure when under pressure. Give him an extra second of time or a yard of space and he'll make the ball sing. This new role suits him well and he'll soon be joining a select group of Liverpool captains.

Think he's set up 1-on-1 situation on 3 occasions in the last 120 odd minutes he's played against Everton and Bournemouth. Both those teams we're pretty poor defensively but it defies the logic that he isn't a progressive passer or only passes the ball sideways.

Henderson completely ran the game on Saturday and dictated the pace of everything. The assist for AOC was the cherry on the top of a great performance, that provided the base for our more attacking players to shine.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

He's better at the 6 than further forward in our system. A lot of people came to hate him there and I could never understand it - he's obviously a notch down from Fabinho defensively but then most players are but he's a more than able stand in.
Hard to watch sometimes this season playing as an '8' on the ball - think his pass completion rate there is 77% or something grim and he's really struggled to move the ball forward - but looked great yesterday with time.
He won't look anything like as good playing there against a team that presses high but we don't play many of them (any of them? don't know about the CWC opponents) while Fab is out so he'll do well

What Jack says. Henderson is great as a 6. Good passing range, keeps things ticking over, has the ball to Ox on Saturday in his locker. He struggles against a high press but we barely play against those because why would you press high only to leave gaps for our forwards?  In his defence I reckon having Keita alongside him, with Ox or Gini in there too, would help a lot. When we struggled to progress the ball against a press with Henderson as a 6 he often had milner vacating midfield ahead of him and Gini playing super, super safe.

As an 8 his ball progression and retention obviously hasn't been great this season, although he chipped in with a key goal and a big assist versus City.

You think it's 'great' to give the ball away just under 1/4 of the time you receive it? That said, pass % is pretty meaningless until you know the difficulty of passes a player is attempting and succeeding with. Progressive passers will have lower pass % rates than those who play very conservatively with their passing.

Is his percentage lower as when he has been further up, from what I can remember he gets into the wide areas/ to the byline and puts crosses in.

Not every cross will land on one of our players heads/ end up at their feet.
