well yeah, the timing thing is actually just funny being as Liverpool won comfortably!

It's the actualy punishment that is hilarious, 1 game and a paltry fine. Such a poor message for the FA to send out, especially at a time where racism is sadly a massive issue.

Maybe because it wasn't on the field of play or even while representing the team?

It’s great that the FA are so consistent with their punishments, it avoids people making the accusation that they just make things up as they go along.

Just read the BBC Sport facebook comments, pretty much everyone on there saying it's a disgrace he was punished at all, PC gone mad, snowflakes, etc etc. Bizarre.
Rafa Benitez: "I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."

One even mentioned a protest against the 'corrupt' FA after the Chelsea game. Oh and the media have an agenda against them. It's all very embarrassing

Funny that if you come across any on Twitter they nearly all say something like “ST holder since 1980” or “City fan since the bad days” like they’re either desperate to prove they haven’t jumped on the bandwagon or they’re just trying a bit too hard. Feels like there’s more people claiming to be ST holders than there are people going to watch them.

The sad thing is, many of their genuine old school have long since been priced out so no longer go.

Both of my female cousins married Mancs, one United and one City. Talking to their brother recently he said the City fella was priced out ages ago. He was brilliant too, and used to get us Reds tickets against them at Maine Road. We saw us tonk them there a number of times thank to him supplying us tickets in the City stand.

From what I hear, he has little time or interest in Abu Dhabi FC now City are dead.

Anyway, it was like they had 10 men against us for 80 odd minutes with him playing the other day, he was so anonymous I forgot he was even playing until he got their consolation.  They’d probably benefit from him sitting out a 5 further games if that performance is anything to go by.

If there's one thing we can do that would really put them in their place (and hilariously rile them up) it would be to stop being so indignant about them here and start full-on taking the piss again. This should be a full-on piss-take thread, what RAWK does so well.

This is true. And I speak as one of the worst offenders.

What a disgrace that is and the timing fucking stinks

No. The timing is fucking excellent.

Imagine if the FA hadn't been so Manchester City-centric and had banned him before our game with them? Imagine the excuses and the fewm on Blue Loon over the 'anti-Manchester City' agenda?

I'd have likely been saying differently if we'd lost, but we won. We handed them their bottoms on a shiny red platter. And they had Silva playing for them.

I'm not entirely sure why it's taken so long.

He admitted the charge (presumably by the 21st) so why is the outcome only just announced.

The FA are on our side though.....

City fans saying they should "take the FA to court" I'm not even sure where to start with such utter stupidity.

He admitted to the charge.

So Silva admited his social media activity breached FA Rule E3 (it was insulting, improper and/or brought the game into disrepute) and E3(2) which links it to referencing to a race, colour or ethnic origin.

Yet gets a 1 game ban.

FA report...

"The player did not himself intend the post to be insulting or in any way racist.

"It is clear that the tweet was intended to be no more than a joke between close friends.

"However, this was not a private jocular communication between two friends.

"The post was on a social media platform exposed to the 600,000 followers of a high-profile and well-respected professional footballer."

And you wonder why racism is increasing when the FA don't even take a hard line on it.

Weird thing is they don't take winning very well either. Makes you wander what the point is?

They neither do anything well or take anything well.

They are seeing the best they will ever see from their franchise. It can't get better than it currently is, yet they are never happy. They are always in turmoil, bitching, moaning, whingeing, playing the victim, looking for conspiracies and generally making a holy show of themselves.

They are the most classless 'champions' this country has ever seen. Graceless, classless, lacking in humility yet foaming with bitterness and bile from their manager, through the playing staff and the fanbase. They are an embarrassing shitshow. The Beverly Hillbillies but without the humour and the endearing qualities.

They really are the Michael Carroll of football. All unearned money but no substance and no class.

The PR work has already started with his agent. Sources letting the Telegraph know that the Liverpool fans behaviour is the source of his meltdown. The media just lapping it all up.

Why years of vilification after Anfield exit may be at root of Raheem Sterling meltdown

That is certainly less than I would have expected. And conveniently timed, too.

And as we beat them, this is a good outcome*. If they'd have been playing Watford next up, the micro-ban wouldn't have meant shit, but this is as decent as we could have hoped for.

Gomez would separate him to two men called Raheem and Sterling if he wanted to, good to see him keeping his calm despite being provoked.

This is the thing.
The incident in the match was a case of Gomez and Sterling tussling for the ball fairly, until Gomez won the ball and then Sterling has a shove and a little bump into the back of Gomez. I think his frustration at losing got the better of him. He picked a confrontation with Gomez, and was made to look a prick when picked up and put back a yard.
He clearly has issues still with his temper tantrums, as was seen in the reaction to losing out to Hendo and his reaction to TTA who nudged him. After he failed to provoke Gomez, he then stamped on VVD, something I think will be filed under unfinished business.
He was wound up emotionally, and after seeing Basil’s tantrums on the line, I think I can see how his anger and sense of self importance and entitlement have been encouraged.
Whether he felt pressure was on him to perform at Anfield from the coaching staff, or simply from his own motivations, he let that pressure get the better of him.
From being their biggest threat he became their biggest embarrassment.
"I want to build a team that's invincible, so that they have to send a team from bloody Mars to beat us."
