went to rawhide again last night, my view on the comedians:
compere: chris cairns, laid back, naturally funny man (the type you could go for a bevvy with and he'd have you in stitches all night) at ease with the audience, confident and some good material as well as some nice adlib.
1st comic: brendan riley - expected him to be really funny as he is resident, and quite high profile but was all in all shit to be perfectly frank, had one good joke; saying he's a bit dumb regarding politics, the war (big understatement going on his material) but he was reading a newspaper which said 'SUICIDE BOMBERS STRIKE' i thought "cheeky bastards!"
and that was the highlight of his set. the rest comprising of doing an impression of a scouse james bond which was pretty fucking insulting and perpetuating scally stereotypes which annoys me, and sending in a hen party from huyton to interrogate sadaam hussein.
comic 2: silky - good reputation and i'd seen him compere at the head of steam before. decent material, own inimatable style, a bit hit and miss but mostly hit.
headliner: stewart francis - seen him lots of times on jongleurs and was my reason for going last night. canadian, very laid back, excellent timing, extremely funny but didnt seem to go down to well with the crowd, set consists mostly of one-liners such as "i went into the library the other day and said i'm looking for a book called 'how to cope with rejection without killing' do you have it? similar style to steven wright but imo funnier.
