Just upgrading to Ios15 now. Looks like its a huge download so I had to connect the phone to the laptop itunes to have the memory to do it.

Haha you are right. It makes so much sense that the search bar should have been at the bottom. They took away my favorite calendar widgit that had appointments and the calendar in one block, now its just appointments.

Hoping to get the new iphone delivered next week sometime.

Loving the red iPhone 13. It’s a nice deep red too.

Not sure about the safari address bar at the bottom. Will give it a few days.

Just move it to the top.

I got the 13 pro max and i think the address and search bar being at the bottom is much better.

Got an upgrade to the 13 today. I like it. I also like the bar at the bottom but you can easily put it back to the top if you prefer.

What can’t you stand about it? I get people maybe preferring other platforms, but it’s pretty inoffensive in itself so can’t see many reasons to hate it.

Just found that you had to take too many steps to do simple things,I'm sure that I'd get used to it if I had to.

Didn't say that I hated it though  :P

Guys. Probably a silly question but I'm asking anyway.

My iPhone 7 belongs to me but the contract is through work.  I am leaving my current job on Friday (start new job following Tuesday)

If my current company say deactivate the SIM on Friday.  I obviously wont be able to make calls or use data, I get that

But will I still be able to see my apps and stuff on the phone and more importantly will I still be able to use my Liverpool NFC pass for the City game on Sunday.

I'm basically not sure what I can do or see on my iPhone without an active SIM

cheers

IIRC when my old contract ran out I could still use the phone on WIFI to access everything, I just didn't have signal to make calls/use data.

Not sure if the pass is generated everytime the app is opened via internet though, in which case unless you have wifi it won't work. You could try turning it onto airplane mode and opening the ass to see what it does.

It won't work without a sim I don't think, but it will with an old sim that just isn't active anymore.

Ok gone into Aeroplane mode. I can still access my wallett and see my NFC pass.  There is currently no game on the pass yet as expected but hopefully before Friday my NFC pass "next game" will be updated to City.  Once its updated it looks like I'm good to lose 4G or internet and still have access to the NFC.

Should be able to grab Wifi at the ground anyway as it seems much better at Anfield these days.

If you make payments via Apple Pay, you’re fine using NFC without data the majority of the time but the phone does have to periodically connect to a server to renew permission. I could be wrong, but my guess would be the same principle applies accessing other things stored in apple wallet.

Cheers mate.  I can just connect to WIFI at home before I leave on Sunday to refresh my NFC pass.

I was just worried that not having an active SIM would leave the iPhone useless.  That doesn't appear to be the case thankfully. :)

Hopefully work will leave the current SIM activated till I get my new work phone a few days later anyway.

The Mrs has just got the 12 pro and now needs some headphones. Is there a big difference between the Airpods and Airpods Pro? Crazy to think they start at £159!

Is Jailbreaking still a thing?

I remember having to do that in order to get any half decent features on my iphone! Even things as simple as the control center!

The only reason I stopped jailbreaking was because I needed the banking app which wouldnt work once jailbroken.

Think you get a better fit (they include 3 sizes of eartips) plus water resistance plus noise cancellation on the pros. Battery's more or less the same.

Thanks. I think I'll have to get them then!

On the Apple website they are priced at £250 but Amazon have them for £190. Does anyone know if they are exactly the same ones, and is it fine to get them from here instead of Apple?

They should be the same. The new versions, Pro 2s, are expected in the next few months so the only ones on the market are the first versions from the 2019 release.

If she's just a casual listener then don't. Buy a £50 pair and she prob won't notice much difference.

I'm thinking of just getting the normal airpods for £125 rather than £200 for the pros - it's her birthday in a week and a half.

Which ones you suggest for £50?

I mean my last pair were a cheap £30 set for using day to day. I've a pair of Beats (£300 ish) which I use for planes, etc. because the added noise cancellation, watching films, etc is well worth it, but walking around, in the gym, etc. a cheaper pair is really enough.

I have the standard airpods. The sound is good but I also want SOME background noise because of the situations I use them in. The pros sit right inside the ear canal, so they noise block effectively but I find that sort of thing too distracting while running/exercising and a bit dangerous on the bike.

Not particularly sure I follow the logic. I have the 12 Pro and due to how I use them haven't bothered going to expensive headphones (for day to day use) as I wouldn't get the benefit of them.

I hear you and agree it depends on how you use them.

As it's her birthday I don't think she'll be happy with cheap headphones so Airpods will have to do lol.

You can buy a set of Beats Flex for £50 if she really wants apple earphones (the pairing is superb with beats/airpods and iPhones, Ill give them that).  I got the second gen Airpods and I barely use them.  You can get better sounding earphones for half the price, Jabra Elite 65t can be bought for around £60 and sound better.

He means for your home internet not your mobile phone provider. It sounds like you’re connecting to a BT hotspot but that should only happen if you’d signed in to one previously as a BT customer for your home internet.
