Ok good people of RAWK, just looking for a bit of advice/clarification.

Say you had an interview for a digital creative role, the interviewer has 'had a close look' at your online portfolio.

What do you take to the interview? Naturally you need to take your work along, but would you prepare nicely designed printed pages of the work you want to show, do you simply take a list of websites that you've designed to show, or do you take a laptop pre-loaded with the work you wish to display?

I'm not really sure what 'the done thing' would be considering the role is for a digital designer?

What do we think?

I took a laptop with a website portfolio, set my laptop to open only the browser on login and the local version of the site as my homepage. So as the introductions and 'do you want a drink?' pleasantries ended I was good to go and everything all open for me to talk things through. Stops the arsing about with stuff being open you don't want and the inevitable fluster to find what you need.

Take or borrow a mac and you'll walk the interview. You won't even need to switch it on. :)
@ Veinticinco de Mayo The way you talk to other users on this forum is something you should be ashamed of as someone who is suppose to be representing the site.

Take Laptop and have everything ready on it, I remember going for an interview with a USB drive and their laptop's plugins were fucked, ran slow as hell and didn't connect well with the external monitor.

Come with your own computer and have everything ready before hand, and hibernate the computer to save power but also your open items.

Also have a desktop background that has I heart 'company offering job'.

Now to hijack the thread, anyone know what the font below is? ;D

Its fairly similar to the 'Diavlo' bold font. Does it need to be that exact one?

You much better off taking your own laptop, but make sure that everything visible on your computer give off the required serious mindedness at the portfolio presentation.

Do remember to have it fully charged. I once interviewed som one who became unnecessarily rattled when his 'charge level warning' came on mid presentation. Besides it undermines any credibility for claims you may make for your attention to detail.

Good luck

I'd like to imagine that they've seen your work, realised you could do the job and are now, really, just having you in to explain the role, the company and to see whether you'd fit in with their existing team and how well you'd outface (ie talk to clients etc).

Good luck.

I always thought that the 'Spud' technique for interviews as shown on trainspotting was the way to go.

Was first one I thought of, but no cigar, this one's not as Gothic. It's not really all that important, just thought it was a decent title font .

I'd hope so! We'll see though.

Can't really have local copies of websites on the laptop, as most of what I would show has been carried out in my current employment. But I can pre-load the various websites, then sleep the laptop ensuring minimal fuss when I get to the interview.

Cheers for the advice people.
