Sri Lanka have gone and won in South africa. Huge result for them

Won the Test series? I saw they win the other week, have they won another one? That’s amazing!

really odd. SL get whacked by us in their own grounds, go to aus and apparently get smashed there as well, then go to SA and somehow win 2-0. fair play to them.

First Asian side to win a series in SA and only the third country behind England and Australia. Impressive stuff.

Fancy going to the Ashes this year - just looking at tickets, do they tend to sell out or is it possible to nab a couple closer to the time?

Can see some are available for Egbaston day 4, or Old Trafford day 3

The England batsman and World Cup contender Alex Hales is serving a 21-day ban from cricket for recreational drug use, the Guardian can reveal.

Hales, 30, has missed the start of his county Nottinghamshire’s Royal London Cup campaign, with the club stating last Thursday that he had “made himself unavailable for selection for personal reasons” and setting no date for his return.

Hasan Ali bowling v Kent.  Batsman skies it, Hasan Ali underneath it, drops it and celebrates the catch anyway.  Umpire gives it out.

The incident with Hales happened last year I believe. So perhaps when the trial was going on? I'm not sure it is fair to vilify a player for perhaps taking something in a moment of high stress and anxiety. He wont be the first and he wont be the last to do so in his position.

Buttler aside, I think he's the most destructive batsman England have when he's truly on it and there's little between the averages of Roy and Hales in ODI's. But you don't want any distractions for whatever reason a month before a home World Cup so it is probably the right decision.

:D

It’s not the 6 all out that made me chuckle. I reckon we’ve all been involved in similarly low scoring games at some point in our cricketing lives.

But it took them 9 overs to get those 6 runs (and lose 10 wickets). That’s an awful lot of dot balls! I hope a doughty opener carried her bat for an unbeaten 3 off 30 balls.

Sadly no.

The most deliveries faced were by number 6, who was able to survive 12 balls for a tenacious nought.

Ben Stokes: England cricketer nominated for New Zealander of the Year Award

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/49042726

Ben Stokes is already receiving award nominations for his match-winning role in England's Cricket World Cup win - but not from who you would expect.

Despite breaking Kiwi hearts at Lord's, he has been nominated for the New Zealander of the Year award.

Stokes, 28, was man of the match on Sunday as England beat New Zealand in a dramatic final.

But the all-rounder was born in New Zealand before moving to England when he was 12 - and it seems some Kiwis still see him as their own.

"He might not have been playing for the Black Caps but, having been born in Christchurch, where his parents now live, and with Maori ancestry, there's clearly a few Kiwis about who think we can still claim him," the award's chief judge Cameron Bennett said.
