Yeah.
The game is awful. There's some OK things to like, but the biggest detriment and criticism I can give it is that it's boring as fuck! It's just a mess design wise, aesthetically, and gameplay. Although the thing that was really the deciding factor for me in writing this off as the piece of shit that it is, is the snide, sinister decision to force you into the shop - if that's what it is - in order to use your weapon upgrades. I can see why the progression system is the way it is. It's to force each and every single person who plays this garbage in there to see what they have for sale. There's a grind in place for the in game currency, and it's all about the cosmetics, or the grab for your money to get those cosmetics. They'll claim it's "optional" though, as they usually do. It's Battlefront all over again. It's basically a reskin cut and paste job of the worst things that made Battlefront what it is, and BF1. I'll not be touching this with a barepol. EA and DICE can fuck off.
Probably the most fun I've had on Battlefield since 4.
The gun mechanics and feel are spot on, the attrition system and removal of 3D spotting are welcome changes. The fortifications which I first thought were a gimmick are actually really useful and change the dynamic of attacking and defending flags. Aesthetically speaking Rotterdam is beautiful but Narvik is a mess at times with the overuse of effects (i.e. snow), the UI on the whole is garbage though.
There's plenty to iron out bugs and balance wise but there's a solid shooter here.
In regards to the customisation and upgrade options, I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
There's two options from the home screen:
One is 'The Armory' where they have all the customisation stuff you can unlock.
The other is 'Your Company' where you can upgrade your gun, set progression paths, change your loadout, appearance etc.
You're not forced to look at the store (Armory), heck, you can't even equip items when you're on the store page.
If I wanted to upgrade my Medic gun I'd literally do the following:
Click 'Your Company'
Click 'Medic Class'
Click the gun I want to upgrade
Hit 'Upgrade'
Select the upgrade path for my gun.
Done
If I then want to customise the appearance of my gun I can hit 'Customise' rather than 'Upgrade'. At this point I can use in game currency to change the appearance of my bloody gun.
I'm not sure how that's remotely forced down my throat. Bash the game all you want but don't make up shit just because it's EA.
