What does everyone make of the new LFC site?

https://beta.liverpoolfc.com

I reckon it's a bit shite personally! Really messy but could be massively improved with some fairly simple CSS tweaks.

Awful. Whats up with the massive yellow sections? Feels really disjointed.

It feels like it hasn't loaded properly, lots of empty dead space. The banner at the top makes it look like a cheap dodgy website too.

I tried making a few adjustments using CSS to see if I could make the whole thing look better (can you tell I'm fucking about at work?) - but whoever the club has in charge of developing the site has never heard of best practices. The HTML is a mess in places with elements using the same 'class' even though they should clearly not be linked. That probably doesn't mean much to people outside web dev but I'm surprised this has even made it to a Beta version.

I think they're trying to follow modern website designs by keeping everything minimal yet loud (larger font sizes, larger images, etc). But they've missed the mark. Crystal Palace and Brighton's websites look better...

I'm not a webpage person, but I do understand what you are detailing.

I'd tell the club (or at least that dept) the whole world will be looking at it, don't want to come off looking like amateurs.

It's poor design. Flat style which is all the rage but zero indication certain sections scroll.  It's very blank and seems to mimick a Wordpress layout from, ooh, 2009. This isn't economy of design - it's failing to get across key information. You can scroll it for ages and see different things, but the main menu - which is in principle supposed to be the central navigation hub - hints not that these things exist. As a resource or news hub this is woeful. It basically looks and feels like a Tumblr
