Are you allowed in to Anfield on a match day with a small rucksack?

From the matchday programme:

"Bringing bags to the stadium is actively discouraged. However, fans arriving at the stadium with a small personal bag (i.e. handbag/medical bag) should expect this to be searched and tagged before entry. Bringing a bag may delay your entry and in some cases may lead to non-entry to the stadium. Please do not bring large bags or luggage (such as rucksacks/briefcases/suitcases/suit bags etc) to Anfield as they cannot be brought into the stadium"

So, no.

Depends how big the rucksack is. I've brought a bag in numerous times.

As with most things with this club, it probably also depends on who you get on the turnstiles.

Quote
Make sure you allow enough time for any necessary security checks which may include random searches. Small personal bags are permitted - please ensure your bags are no larger than A5 and only one bag per person is allowed. It is advised you only bring a bag if it is absolutely essential, please see our checklist of what can/cannot be brought in to the stadium here.

Please do not bring large bags or luggage (such as rucksacks/briefcases/suitcases/suit bags etc.) to Anfield as they cannot be brought into the Stadium. Please be advised there is no left luggage facility at the stadium.

Says no larger than a5, which I would assume is the size of an a5 sheet of paper. The bag I have brought in is larger than an a4 sheet of paper.

seen people with bags all the time, as long as it’s not absurdly large you’ll be fine, stewards will check and put a tag on it

I queried those rules with the club last season as I occasionally have a rucksack.  They told me that rucksacks are fine, and, sure enough, I've continued to have no problems.  Just call over the steward on the turnstile to do your bag search.  Don't be one of those people who waits until you get right up to the turnstile and then holds up the queue.

You see people with rucksacks every week. I've even seen people with suitcases! Plus they are obviously very unbothered by massive LFC shop bags...
Rafa Benitez: "I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."

It should be fine, I was surprised by those guidelines as have often bought a rucksack but note they also say no laptops or tablets which would make for very boring train journeys, plus most handbags are bigger than A5 so I think it's trying to persuade people not to bring them.

The bigger the better.

Anybody found to not be in possession of an LFC Retail bag full of merchandise will be refused entry to the ground
