Nice to see him back in a job. Liverpool legend.

Back with Bolton

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7521711/?

Sammy Lee has joined Bolton for a third time during his football career.

The 53-year-old, who finished his playing days with the club in 1991 and was assistant manager and then manager from 2005-07, has now taken up the role of head of academy coaching.

Lee has been out of work since leaving Liverpool last summer after Kenny Dalglish decided to reorganise his backroom team.

Bolton boss Owen Coyle believes Lee will prove a valuable addition to the club.

"I know Sammy will bring a great deal of top-level coaching experience and enthusiasm, and that can only be of huge benefit for our youth players," said Coyle.

They both went in high, that's factually correct, both tried to play the ball at height.  Doku with his foot, Mac Allister with his chest.

Just a question about sammy lee and I don't mean to derail the topic of him being back in a job but...

What is his forte when it comes to coaching so to speak, I only ask because when KD came in and had sammy as coach we played some real flowing stuff, sammy leaves and we look out of ideas going forward but organised by bringing in clarke and keen ( I know Clarke was brought in before keen last season)

Just wondered or is it purely coincidental?

I wouldn't class him as a coach that has that much say in the tactical areas. He'll take the managers ideas and implament them onto the team. We all know that during his first 2 spells at Bolton they played horrible negative football that we all hated. But at liverpool we played flowing football. I would say thats more the managers ideas rather that Sammy's

Where Sammy is in a class of his own in with his man management. He was the one the players go to with their problems. He speaks fluent Spanish so when we had the Spanish influx he was able to communicate the teams ideas to them whilst they settled in. And we all know where Sammy stood in his playing days so he instantly had the respect of the players. That is where Sammy is at his strongest.

I'm so glad he's found somewhere. I think its criminal that the FA didn't try to bring him into the England fold in some capacity.

Wish him all the best at Bolton.

I remember when Sammy came not long after Rafa's reign began, I wrote to wish him good luck and he rang me on my mobile to thank me for my letter! He rang at me at home when I was at work, and my missus gave him my mobile no - I was convinced it was a mate taking the piss, but it was Sammy! To take time out from an obviously busy schedule to speak to a humble fan like me speaks volumes for the man. I wish him all the very best at Bolton. Nearly forgot - I was on the Kop when he made his league debut - looked like he was on his last legs that day :)

That's a great story. Met him in Dublin once, he's a sound man.
Let us never forget Rafael Benitez and what he did for us. A fighter full of guts and passion. A gentleman full of class and dignity. A football manager full of intelligence and pure genius. A Legend.
Adios Rafa, buena suerte.

In the corridors and changing rooms of Anfield I met many people - the great, the talented, the legendary.  I know that I only met one genius.  He was a small, smiling man with a neatly clipped beard.  His name was Rafael Benitez.

Cracking story mate.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.
