Klopp has some competition for places now in the attacking roles.

I suspect Lallana will start on the bench, so that's one headache removed.

Then it's probably 4 from 5 - Salah, Mane, Firmino, Coutinho & Ox

Maybe one won't be 100% so could help ease that problem too for Klopp.  On paper you'd think Ox should miss out.  But I thought he had a cracking game vs West Ham and given he didn't play International football should be really fresh.

I guess all five could play in a 4-3-3 formation.  But I'm not sure about that due to the balance of the team.  However if we could get it to work then it could be destructive.  Man City seem to be able to do it with both De Bruyne & Silva playing in CM.  Maybe we could with Coutinho & Ox at home?!

I'm really not sure and I'd be happy for any of those 5 (or Lallana) to start.

I don't mind if we play 4-3-3 or more of a 4-4-2 either.  Think both can work.

I'd start Robertson at LB though, as I think at home if we're going to dominate possession then his better crossing delivery to Moreno could make the difference.  Although I expect it to be Moreno, who has been very impressive this season.

Great to have options though. An knowing that on the bench we’ll have three of four game changers really (Sturridge, maybe Lallana or Mane this week and most likely Ox too). We’ll need them all over the next couple of months so hopefully we’re not so reliant on one or two stars anymore but we know that whoever is on the bench is capable of coming on and changing a game. Nice to see.

Reckon Mane and Henderson will both start on the bench.

Can, Gini and Ox behind Coutinho, Firmino and Salah is my guess.

I'd love to see that midfield again, but I reckon Henderson will be in for Can, I just hope that it isn't Can and Henderson at the expense of Ox.

I wouldn't be surprised if Studge starts this one either, alongside Bobby and Mo.

Hoping for something similar we've seen vs Huddersfield.

Sturridge upfront, Bobby in a 10-ish position, Ox/Mane and Salah wide with Phil with Gini behind them. Get as many forward players on the pitch as possible, Soton are hopeless going forward, there's not much to fear , get an early goal and then maybe we can adjust again if needed.

I don't want to see Lovren back in the side unless we're light at the back. Klavan or preferably Gomez with TAA on the right.

I’m not sure there are many that want to see Lovren back in the side but considering that he was slated to start the next game after his catastrophe only to be replaced due to injury I think we will see him back in.

I do, he is still the best option to partner Matip at the back for now. We have a lot of games coming up in the run up to January, he has to play, he can't and won't be sitting them out, as he shouldn't.

I'd be stating TAA in place of Gomez, but yes otherwise.

TAA is more of a threat in attack, which we need against a team who spoiled our attack in four games last season. I'd rather Gomez started against Sevilla.
TAA's also fresher than Gomez, and Gomez already usually starts to struggle physically on about 60-70 minutes - evident when he starts to become handsy with the opposition and give away cheap free kicks - even when only playing once a week

save for that  might drop Klopp as he has been unwell and slip in Klavan.

I feel we owe them a thrashing

Another team that wants to generate a fake rivalry with us....hope we put them to bed because they can't score goals, we've conceded 1 at home so far and we have lots of attackers that can score plenty fit and ready.

No excuse not to win this, should be a home banker.

We clearly have enough firepower to beat this lot but, as we all know, anything can happen. So I'll be content with a win by any means possible.

The schedule is about to get nuts so, the important thing is the result and not the performance.

A goal would be nice  ;D

I'd like to see Gomez alongside Matip here for this. Trent at RB.

Wouldn't play Can either. Wijnaldum and Coutinho with Milner behind them. Can't see Southampton posing much more threat than United, Huddersfield and Maribor.

Hopefully Mane will be ready but I can see him being on the bench. Will also be good to see Lallana back on the bench as well I imagine.

Just fucking win and keep the run going.

We’re all guessing, but I’m not going to be betting on your predictions.

Southampton have a very solid defensive record on the road (and not just this season). They certainly present a bigger defensive obstacle than Huddersfield or Maribor.

I think either Henderson or Can will start at 6. Wouldn’t surprise me to see Mane start either.

Id like to see...

                  Migs
Gomez - Lovren - Matip - Moreno
                    Can
            Coutinho - Ox
       Salah Firmino Mane

With Lallana, Studge and Solanke coming on if and when required

Klopp seems to like Hendo as the 6, so suspect he will start, with Can replacing the Ox, (the latter impressing with his overall play recently).

Not sure Gomez is quite ready to go in just yet as a CB in a 2, looked good in a 3 for England, so who knows going forward ?

That's good news he's a tidy player that fella.

With all due respect to Henderson, Can should hold his position at No.6 after his recent performances. I don't think Henderson has any right to walk back into the team especially considering he hasn't been playing so well.

The ideal team selection would be:
Mignolet
Gomez - Matip - Klavan - Moreno
Wijnaldum - Can - Coutinho
Salah - Firmino - Mane

But considering the volume of fixtures over the coming weeks/days, I feel there will be a surprise or two in the line up. Careful management is needed during this period. We appear to be in a good place injurywise so it's important to try keep it that way.

I think this is the first time we’d be able to field our best side ahead of the defence?

Henderson

Lallana Coutinho

Salah Firmino Mane

Obviously Salah wasn’t here last season, but it’s also the first time we can field that lot in the side (Wijnaldum instead of Coutinho, who was in the front three), since this time last year. In fact, I think it was more than a year ago, October last year? Back when we were top of the league. Fell apart after the injuries in the busy period.

Hopefully they can all stay fit until the end of the season.

Decent team but I'd prefer Mignolet to stand in front of the goal and not at the right hand touch-line.

I wonder if Klopp will have one eye on Sevilla with this game. I know PL should be the focus but whatever way you spin it, it's two games in 4 days that we want to win. A win v Sevilla would see us qualify as group winners and free up that home game v Spartak to rest players. But then we desperately need the 3 points here.

If there is the slightest risk with Mane, then I would rest him. I don't see Lallana being risked either. We have genuine options now - Can, Henderson, Milner, Wijnaldum, Lallana, AOC, Coutinho, Mane, Salah, Firmino, Sturridge - I honestly don't think there is a need to risk players if there is a slight doubt around them.

I think Sturrige might start this one - wouldn't be surprised if Firmino misses out, due to being on International duty and playing a role in Sevilla and against Chelsea.

How are they going to approach the game? They don't score alot, but they don't concede a lot either - only conceded 11 this season. Sit tight and hope for a chance?

If ever there was a game for an early opening goal for us, I beg that it is this one.

Don't see why not- if Klopp substitutes a lot sooner. My view is to start with our best side and substitute earlier than usual. Clearly, there will be rotation where we wish to be play / start with a more defensive player either away from home or against a top 6 side(Chelsea). In this regard, our midfield can be Henderson or Can, Wijnaldum and one of Coutinho / Llalana rather than the latter 2 and Henderson or Can. The top 3 if fit picks itself. Not sure why there is a call for Sturridge to start.
