Please, please, please, please, please let this be true.

That would be the funniest thing ever.  :D

Please no, for 2 reasons.

1. He *might* actually be really good for them.
2. I thought (and hoped) that we'd seen the last of the diving/screaming/rolling little c*nt in our league.

Let him use Untied as a bargaining chip to get RM to pay his tax bill and then fuck them off.

I agree. It might be hilarious if they massively overpay for a short term gain for a season or two but it won't be funny if he bangs in 30+ a season while he's there and for all talk of him getting older and slowing down he's still a very efficient goal scorer.

Plus as said he's incredibly annoying so hope he stays or fucks off to another league.

Ronaldo is a ridiculous superhuman force of nature.

He's also nearly 50, though.

I'm not totally persuaded that swapping de Gea and enough money to eradicate polio throughout sub Saharan Africa for Ronaldo would be the cleverest thing to do for the season after next, but luckily I support Liverpool, so fuck it.

It's the Ramos situation all over again; he just wants money/assurances from Real and his little strop will ensure that he gets them.

I don't know a single united fan who actually thinks this will end up with us signing him.

Excellently efficient goalscorer who's team right now is setup perfectly for him. Also a massive twat on the pitch.

Absolutely convinced this is just to get a nice contract to end his career on.....

But in the slimmest chance it isn't, wouldn't care if he went to Utd and they lose De Gea in the process.

£175M plus De Gea plus (probably) half a million a week in wages??

How does Jose keep winning working with squads he cobbles together from the youth team and free transfers?

At those sums I don't give a shit how good or bad Ronaldo would be for them for the ten minutes he would be with them. That is so ridiculous it is hilarious.

Losing De Gea and "gaining" a player with a season or two in his legs for that sort of money is probably the most United thing to happen in the history of football.

They deserve all they get....which will be fuck all with signings like this.

Oh and Rashford out on loan then??   :o

Ronaldo would add 40 goals for a few seasons he's that good. Taking away De Gea though is them shipping a hell of a lot more goals. He's genuine world class.

They would have to win the league with a buy like that, no excuses.

Shit Coats meltdown would be exquisite to watch.

Never happen anyway, Ronaldo won't work with him again.

40 goals in the league or all competitions? Last year he scored a mere 25 in La Liga, so signs are that he saves himself for the "big matches" in the Champions League these days. I'd feel he'd most likely score 20-25 in the Prem these days because of the insane marking he'd go under and also a worse environment around him. Long gone team mates like Bale, Benzema, Kroos and Modric supplying running and passes for him. Step forward Pogba  ;D

Would be a weird move for Ronaldo. Not sure what he'd consider success looking like at united now. He's at a team built round him in a structure that plays to his strengths. Now don't get me wrong, he's great at defensive headers from corners but I doubt that's where he wants to focus the twilight of his career.

Italy might be a good one or somewhere with poor tax laws maybe?

If I was Real I'd take the money and de Gea and run the f*ck away  ;D Selling a 32 year old star is like Football Manager genius, buying one for insane money is a Fifa kid.

For that money they can sign Mbappé and Aubameyang and still make evens. As much I'd love the Aubameyang rumours regarding us to be true I see no way it'd happen.

Woodward is brilliant.

A big part of their player recruitment and planning ahead with no cohesion and structure is such a mess is thanks to him, their days of being a dominant force are over and they are turning into the 70'and 80's United of winning domestic cups every few years and buying big money signings who flop and changing managers every 2 seasons.

Long may it and he continue.

The Ronaldo shirt sales alone will pay off the club debt and set them up for the next 10 years with unlimited transfer money - no brainer really.

Pre emptive Ronaldo shirt sales just paid for Lindelof!

But that's not actually true - I remember a piece showing that even the biggest shirt selling deals in history (think the big Real Madrid buys of he who fannies about and dives around/Ronaldo/Zidane etc) are barely enough to put a dint in the transfer fee because, of the £40 odd a shirt will cost on average globally, they only sell a tiny number  of them for any one player (historically, so Man Utd can't pretend he who fannies about and dives around now will sell more than he did for RM), and they only take a smallish cut of the sales (<10%, as adidas/nike etc take most of it, and then on top of that he who fannies about and dives around will get a chunk as he does currently).  link here

There's little chance of Ronaldo moving this summer, but as long as it's not sorted it threatens to suspend other summer moves.  e.g. Morata is not going to move, which may suspend Lacazette (as Lyon won't sell unless they rule out a ManU bid) etc.
