After eleven games they have twenty points and are level on points with Everton for the fourth position. I know many teams start off well but fade off but one of the main reasons for that is usually their poor defending. But West Brom look quite solid at the back, have a good midfield in Yacob, Mulumbu and Morrison and a decent attack with Long, Odemwingie and Lukaku. Must say, Steve Clarke has done really well with them.

A Liverbird upon my chest, we are the men of Shankly's best. A team that plays the Liverpool way, and wins the championship in May.

There are a very good side. They know when to pass it around an when to go more direct. Looking at their fixtures over the next few months, they have a good chance to stay in 4th when January starts

Steve's doing a great job there

Doing well, but he definitely wouldn't be the first manager to start well and turn to absolute shite after February. They do have a very solid team, could probably do with a few more technical players though
Pretty happy with Arse taking it.

Long, Odemwingie and Lukaku.

3 strikers, one a goal poacher with a bit of pace, one a creative striker with a bit of pace, the other a big lump with abit of pace.

sigh, we are were we are cos we didnt strengthen this primary area.

Dan Ashworth.

They've been good for a while, they're just getting better. It's not a popular thing to say in these parts but they were decent under Hodgson and didn't just lump it forward. They've taken another step forward in terms of how they play going forward, and they've got a bit more pace, but they're not radically different to how they've been since getting promoted IMHO.

Be interesting to see how they cope without Ashworth now that he's gone to the FA. Apparently he's helping to find his own successor, although the only name I've seen mentioned is Comolli... Ha.

Aye just noticed their points tally myself, good effort Steve. I can see them finishing in the UEFA cup spot, injuries withstanding.

First time this season I've had a real good look at the table, our position is not good but this season it looks like the 'top 4' could dwindle to a 'top 3', we need to take advantage of that and hopefully our owners see this as time to pump a bit of money in so we can strike while the opportunity presents.

They seem to have a good set up there so there's a decent chance it could happen. They need to replace Dan Ashworth though, that'll be a key appointment for them going forward as he did a fine job.

Summed it up.

When you get an excellent Director of Football with a good scouting network, a good knowledge of the game and good connections, they that's what you get.

They were decent under Di Matteo, but looked like they were heading to relegation around the new year in 2010-11, Hodgson steadied the ship and now Clarke is building upon what Roy did there. Let's see how they replace Ashworth when he leaves his position for the FA at the end of the season.

Saying that, Clarke & Keen have done brilliantly this season, most of the times they have good their tactics spot on and the team lineup and style have always been the right way. Be interesting to see how they do after Xmas though.

I am somewhat concerned they will finish above us! But let's hope and see.

Dan Ashworth.

Yeah, good point. Both him & Jeremy Peace deserve a lot of credit really. Financially prudent & overall excellent in the market, along with the nous to move away from the managerial merry-go-round that we see in the mid-lower of the Premiership.

Agree with everything else you've said too, they've been ever-improving for a long while now.

Well run on and off the pitch, have never confused ambition with spending lots on transfers.

Most they have ever paid in £4.7 million on Borja Valero. Must be one of the lowest in the league.

Is crazy when you think teams like Villa, Sunderland and Stoke have all spent over £10 million on individual players.

I think only Reading have a lower record in the Premiership, and were also known as a well run club. (No idea how things will change under their new ownership)

Cheers mate!

We finished 10th last season, I reckon we'll improve on that but I just can't see us getting into Europe.  Maybe 8th?

We've got great attacking depth, but any injuries or suspensions at the back will be horrific.  Dawson is inexperienced and Tamas is a bit shit.  We don't have any cover for Yacob and Mulumbu either.

A little unfair on Di Matteo that, mate. He guided WBA to automatic promotion and had them playing some good footy in the PL, only for their board to panic and sack him after a bad run. Somewhat surprising given WBA are not known for knee-jerk decisions.

As for Clarke,  wish him all the best and would be delighted to see them high up the table come March/April time. Already had a lot of respect for Clarke before Kenny brought him to LFC.
