While Lucas will get absolute pelters for the mistake, he should never have been given that ball in the first place when Leicester have been playing the high press from the first whistle. Their midfield is non-existent, so just whack it up the pitch. They've been patient, waiting for the defence to make a fuck up, and have been duly rewarded. Undone all of the fantastic attacking play we've had. Karius surely must be pushing for a start now.

Play a midfielder at CB and get what you ask for, no surprise. Winning still though so woo
To be fair a midfielder should be better on the ball than a defender so you can't blame it on that.

Lucas was under a bit of pressure and his first touch let him down. It happens to every single footballer now and then, it just happened in the most unfortunate place for us.

Lucas has been fine, one mistake skews the opinions of course but he didn't mean it.

Fuck me. How do you coach someone not to pass the ball straight to the striker in front of goal? You absolute weapon.

Add the fact that Lucas isn't even a center back.... I'm one who usually moans about how bad we are defensively but how the fuck can you fix that?

Everything going swimmingly until the error from Lucas. But the break came at a good time, so Jurgen can calm the players down and hopefully we'll get another two in the second half. Sturridge looking far better today but Firmino has been the main man. Some filthy good touches so far and a cracking goal.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Mane and sturridge is as sexy on  the pitch as it looked on paper. And that's with Sturridge still slightly off by his own standards. Firmino has been mercurial.

Or we handed Leicester the initiative in the minutes after the goal, good thing half time came.

You hope we'll lose or draw but you are going to be disappointed.

We seriously need to stop allowing teams back into games through amateur hour defending, it's happening far too often.

Going forward we've looked class, think we'll get at least 1 more.

Come on reds, see this out.

:o Sturridge has been great, really playing for the team
Yeah what an assist! and some good running in the channels, Firminio's space for his goal was opened up by his run out wide. Very intelligent.

If only we had another international quality centreback. You play midfielders back there then these things can happen. Halted our momentum after a great start, hope we can regroup over half time.

From the sublime to the ridiculous!  :)

Thought Lucas has been good other than his misunderstanding with Mignolet (perhaps a bit of a hospital pass from Migs?)

Hope we can maintain our intensity and get another, Leicester will be looking to hit us as we tire.

We played some lovely stuff. Felt for Lucas there, he's not a defender though and why pass to him penned in the corner like that?

We are so good going forward.

Lucas, though. Don't tell me no one saw that coming. But he's 'match-fit' and all that.
Apart from that aberration I thought he played well enough.

I don't get how Lucas not being a defender is being blamed on him making that mistake, is he not expected to control the ball and not make dumb decisions in midfield where he comes under more pressure?

Ming does have a tendency to put our defence into trouble now and again with bad short passes. Think we'll still win this though

Very good half for the most part, shame about the error but we just need to keep on playing our game.

First 5 minutes I hated the new camera but got used to it afterwards, think they zoomed it in a bit, you could see what felt like half the stand at the start.

Lovely to see all the whoppers in the half time thread despite us winning so far. I've seen some lovely play, a beautiful new stand and a delicious attacking sensibility. More of the same please.

Yeah, as soon as they scored, I just thought that the negative kneejerkers would have something to be happy about in the half time thread.

I think we've got a goal or three in us for the second half.

When I saw we hadn't sold Lucas in the last transfer window my heart sunk.
When I saw Lucas's name on the team sheet my heart sunk further.
and now... :butt :no
The thing is that he appears a nice lad and he clearly loves the club but he is not a Premiership player. I hate to feel so negative towards any LFC player.
Only when he and Migs are out the first team that we truly move on.

On the positive side our forward play has been brilliant at times. Possibly we are more direct and quicker without Coutinho.
Enjoying the match and my team when we attack. We are a joy to watch! :)

I thought that Lucas was having a very good game until that silly mistake. Why do we constantly give away soft goals. We were 2-0 up so just play it long instead of messing around near our goal-line. Firmino should have had a penalty, a push like that anywhere else would be a free-kick.

We need to keep up the high tempo and cut out the soft mistakes.

We play a certain way. We're playing well and leading 2-0. Why would we change? It's not like it's last 10mins and we are shutting up shop.

We should keep playing the possession game. Keep playing it out from the back. It's what our philosophy is. It's what we do in training everyday. Matip and Lucas are good ball players and capable of controlling a football. Lucas made an awful mistake but i'm not sire you should put together a tactical plan to play safe just incase someone makes an awful mistake.
I wanna be like Jurgen Klopp
