Isnt quite in character with the rest of the stands though is it?

New Annie Road looks massive aswell - almost like a Kop MkII

Exactly - we can't face away fans sitting / standing in a bigger stand.

Also... it'd take ages to build that curvey wurvey thing for a main stand - disruption, lost revenue etc etc... wouldn't exactly be the same lifting Premiership silverware infront of a building site would it?

I think the length of the pitch (or lack of it) is a big factor in moving.

Here's a point for you:

Take a look at the Annie Road End... big isn't it?  Now this might be all very well for the Annie Roaders, but unless we segraegate in some weird and wonderful manner... away fans will get a Kop of their own.

I for one would wonder if that would be good for us?  "Get yourself to Anfield, they've built a Kop for the away fans now so everyone can share the experience and outsing the Kopites".

Hmmm...

Cant see that the pre-match drinking would change much. The nearest boozer would be the Arkles that no one on here seems to go to. What would be the alternative to what we've already got?

I'm assuming streety means the new stadium that is being built for the 2006 WC which is more compact and close to the pitch. No track around it and has a roof.

Got it in one... There are plenty of quality designs. We need something that stands out like the San Siro or Santiago Bernabau.

Does anyone know what the capacity of this design was?
Was this design discarded without even discussion?
Who designed it and why I wonder?

I would take that above a new stadium.

And by the looks of it there would be room to extend the Cent if need be in the future.

I really hope this plan is given another chance by the owners.....it would be such a shame to move from this cathedral of football. I am at UNC Chapel Hill in the states, and about 20 years ago we relocated our basketball team from our historic home to a new luxurious, massive, "modern stadium". We have generated incredible revenue and done extremely well as a program, which is great and all. But it is not the same celebrating championships in the new stadium. My dad comes back for the games all the time and you can always sense the disappointment when he walks in, because the new arena is nothing compared to the traditional one. There is just something special about the original home of a sports team, it just oozes with history.

Redeveloped Anfield is how it should be!
Now they've cleared behind the Annie Road, with a Main Stand revamp and possibly Centenary...its do-able!!
That unexplainable atmosphere that send tingles down my spine before every game would be lost if we built a new complex.  Half because we are all so close to the pitch and half because of our tradition and history.
I used to go to the old Highbury...first ever game was there in 1979..have a best mate who's an Arse fan....and the atmosphere there was great...but am sorry to say although the Emirates is an amazing stadium and great for revenue etc....no atmosphere whatsover!!! :wave

HAVE GOT TO STAY AT ANFIELD!! :champ

Pretty sure it was 55k, this was the figure the club said Anfield could be expanded to.

However a lot of things have changed over the past few years, we have all that space behind the Anfield Rd now, and their are just a couple of occupied houses left in Lake St (behind the Main St)

The club should at least now look into the possibility of redeveloping Anfield to 60/65k, the main stumbling block as far as the club is concerned has always been the vast loss of revenue while rebuilding work went on.

Maybe there's some truth in that, and maybe that's why the club continue to refuse to reconsider staying at Anfield rather than moving to Stanley Park.

I think we should keep Anfield.
I think the picture looks OK, but main stand look strange with that roof. It is possible to extend Anfield today, so that`s the best option.
