Suggestion for redevelopment of Anfield.....
Knock main stand......turn pitch around 90degrees.....drop pitch level about 25 ft......extend the kop and Annie road end to full lenght of turned around pitch (so they are now on the side and not at the end).....new single tier Kop effectively in the current car park behind the main stand.
You gain a dozen or more additional rows all the way around the lowered pitch plus the new kop and extended old kop and annie road instead of the main stand.
The overall height (above road level) would be the same as the current stadium getting around the local objections.

In the mean time we play in cardiff!!!

Seen them now, looks like a massive concourse area in those pics. The more I see that latest stadium design I more I've grown to like it by the way.

We dont own enough of the landhouses behind the main stand to do that. It would also probably cost just as much as building a new stadium by the time you extend the Kop and Anny Road ends.

thanks for that, had not seen them inside pics either, very cool, looks like either side of the Kop where it's not filled in to the other stands is a large area for shops/cafe's and the life

i do like this design to be honest, very unique, instantly recognizable

Great how they now put up the pics of the 73k stadium that they have not submitted an application for yet.

It's an NFL stadium - the pitch is the wrong shape. I'm sure it's great for watching the Colts but I wouldn't want to watch Football there.

We are not allowed a 'brick style' design as part of the planning permission, hence one of the reasons one of our earlier designs got the knock back.

I didnt know that - and why considering a lot of the current Anfield is brick?

Yup, I was thinking the same thing.

It's an NFL stadium - the pitch is the wrong shape. I'm sure it's great for watching the Colts but I wouldn't want to watch Football there.

The pitch should be at least 10 yards wider, but the elevation and the position of the stands is perfect.

We are not allowed a 'brick style' design as part of the planning permission, hence one of the reasons one of our earlier designs got the knock back.

Lucas Oil Stadium is not a ''brick style'' design. It is completely made of steel and concrete. Only the color of the concrete is creating an optical illusion that it is made of bricks.

Err... not really. more like 20m wider which makes a significant difference to the relationship between the stands and  the field of play.

OK, the Association Football pitch is 19m wider than the American Football pitch.

Still, I think that the whole concept of the Lucas Oil Stadium is much better than the concept made by HKS for the Stanley Park stadium.

Oh, and I am still waiting for your answer on this one:

By the way, what do you think of this concept, Alan ?

(Independiente's new stadium)

Personally, I kinda like the towers in the corners.

It is a matter of personal taste, I suppose. Still, the concept of corner towers supporting the roof is a very interesting one, especially if you are planing to increase the initial 60,000 capacity in the future.

They wouldn't allow for expansion - if anything they'd restrict it. The San Siro was expanded for Italia 90 by adding an extra tier - the towers providing support for the new roof and access ramps.

You can see clearly that the San Siro towers are outside the footprint of the earlier expansion.

If you built straight up form the "royal box" towers they'd restrict the size of the upper tier.

I also don't get why you'd put the most expensive seats (with arm rests etc) in the worst viewing positions. Generally, corporate seats are sited around the halfway line where you get the best view of the whole game.

I've never heard that before mate....seems odd to prefer glass and aluminium to traditional brick.........any idea why?

I can't remember the detail but it's probably to do with the ground being situated in Stanley Park - glass and aluminum could be seen as more in keeping because they have echoes of conservatories and glasshouses. A brick building of that size in the park would be too industrial.

I thought that at first, I can see the idea about the glass but I'm not sure that all the aluminium would fit in too well.
It certainly won't look too good in 50 or 100 years.
