Not the end of the world. Attack need to be much, much more clinical in the second leg.

Said it was a big night for that defence and they delivered, Fabinho exemplary.

Bayern were so streetwise tonight, worth remembering we didn't beat any team in the CL last year with any recent pedigree in the competition.

Not the worst result it must be said
Indeed, better result than 1-1. You'd back us to score in Munich.
However if something serious happens to them I will eat my own cock.

Don't understand the TV coverage at all - that's a good scoreline for us.
Not the best obviously but it gives them a HUGE problem in the 2nd leg

No away goals is quite a good deal, would have prepared to have won, but it’s the best posible result other than a win to nil.

Credit to Bayern. Top class away performance. Thought they defended excellently and always looked dangerous with Gnabry.

I'm delighted we kept a cleansheet considering the makeshift at the back. Slightly disappointed we didn't score, but a 0-0 at home is not a bad result, considering a 1-1 in the reverse fixture takes us through

Just one of them you have to take.

I've said it in other threads and I'll say it again, we are crying out for someone in midfield opposition teams have to worry about once the front 3 is shut out. You defend in numbers against our front three you know you don't have to worry about anyone from midfield causing you any danger.

Bayern are a good team though and it's not the worst result, no moaning here.

Bayern defended and tackled well. We just couldn’t find the final ball. I thought Salah was a bit weak tonight and lost control of the ball too often.

Tie is still in the balance.

Not a great result, not a bad result. If we were not going to win, 0-0 is the best possible result. Keeping a clean sheet with a this centre back pairing was really crucial.

Next game will be tense.

Javi Martinez... shameless, bitching and crying everytime someone went near him

They got what they came for, a draw

Funny thing is, they got no away goal so for all this fawning and dribbling over 'advantage bayern', how many are going to back us not to score in the 2nd leg?

Our decision making in the final third has been abysmal. The defence and midfield did well but our front three haven't played to their usual level, save Firmino.

Meh

We’ll have no chance of beating any good side with our full backs playing like that, they absolutely killed us. The central players can walk out satisfied (Allison, Fab, Matip, Hendo, Gini, Naby and Bobby) but the full backs and Salah and Mane have cost us massively there.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

They defended well, we weren't at our best going forward.

A score draw still see's us through. Won't be easy of course but hopefully at home they'll give us some more space to work with.

So many bad pass choices going forward but most of that was down to the immense workrate of the Bayern team, forced errors all match long.

That second half was just a whole lot of nothing really.

Pretty much the perfect European away performance from Bayern. They defended brilliantly for a team that are supposedly 'absolutely dog going backwards', as one poster put it in the half time thread. We were so, so wasteful though and just fizzled out in the second half.

Disappointing night all round really. Incredibly tough ask to go through now given our record away from home in Europe.

Bayern hadn't kept a clean sheet for 6 matches before tonight and conceded 2 or more to Augsburg, Hertha and Leverkusen. We were incredibly sloppy, they were absolutely ripe for a seeing to and we never laid a glove on them.

Wasteful as hell, but we just need a score draw over there to go through.

Most disappointing stat for me was 13 shots, but only 1 on target after about 85 minutes.

We go again.  This tie is still in the balance.

The final ball and lack of match sharpness were both missing I reckon. We looked rusty in front of goal and didn't look like scoring in that second half. I don't really think these breaks have done us any good. Mane's miss in that first half should have been the difference between the sides but alas, it wasn't to be. All in all a good performance but unfortunate not to nick it. A 1-0 would have been deserved and I don't think we have anything to fear from this Bayern side. They'll probably play better in the second leg but I can see us finding another gear as well so it's anybody's tie.
