Some good right ups there apart from the cheap dig Armin  ;)

Nothing wrong with being a techno freak, its fun :wave

Mooro got it right though, 8/10, but for price and its main purpose to be an ipod dock its a 10.  Watched a film through it from my dvd the other night and that worked well and really picked out the sound rather than the stand telly speakers.  I have not got round to a full surround sound system yet I'm afraid.

Lets just say if you could buy them direct from manufacturer, you would be paying a whole lot more, happens like that sometimes we get stuck with pockets of pristine aged stock and its cheaper/ easier to take a hit than redistribute it. Lucky if you spot them!!

Well in Pheel.

I'm not surprised that the cost was high, the weight in the unit alone marks it out as a quality product. Perhaps the looks put people off, its also likely the majority of shoppers in Curry's haven't heard of Klipsch wheres Bose or Jamo have a bit more of a profile and their offerings are more modern. At the St Helens branch the display model was scratched and worn looking, at the end of a row and the price tag said reduced from 99 to 79, so they must've been clearing for awhile. The lad at the till knew though, as soon as he saw it he said what a great unit it was
Well, I don't know what it is, but there's definitely something going on upstairs

When people are saying the box is big... that's in relation to the fact it's an "iPod" speaker and you'd expect it to be smaller?

My mum and her friend have got the honour of bringing it over on Ryanair next week if possible. In the past I brought a Tannoy 6.1 set fully boxed over as luggage, can't imagine it's going to be any bigger/heavier than that?

Nice one again Pheel :wave

It's big and heavy, Amazon say 20kg which sounds about right. The sub is a really large unit, far bigger than most 5.1 subs. It would have to go in the hold. Its well packaged though with plenty of polystyrene insulation. This picture may help you visualise:

Cheers Armin, don't know why I couldn't find the weight on Amazon. The Tannoy kit is 15kg unboxed...

My maths isn't as good as it used to be, but I reckon any extra they have to pay is more or less the same as free room and board for a week :)

Not quite in the same league as bez's über-bargain, but a good deal nonetheless: I picked up a Logitech Audistation Express in Tesco for £29.97.

It's very neat and well made, comes with a separate wraparound protective case (presumably if you want to chuck it in your bag on your travels) and sounds pretty good. Not hi-fi of course, but ideal for, say, a kitchen (which is what I wanted it for). The remote control is fairly rudimentary and there are no on-board sound options other than volume. But you can tweak the sound to suit your surroundings/taste using the iPod's equalisation settings.

All in all a nice piece of kit. If you can dig one out at this price, I would highly recommend it - I found it buried amongst a stack of Logitech mm50s. Tesco are knocking these out at £49.95 - another well-reviewed item, but not quite such a bargain.

Am I the only shopaholic around at the mo?

Anyway, I've been hankering after a pair of in-ear/noise isolating bud headphones for the iPod for a while. The Shure models look class, but are way too expensive. And there are various assorted models knocking about that just don't have enough of a reputation or decent write-ups about.

Which brings me to the Sennheiser CX 300.

Good reviews, especially in Which? magazine which rated them above more expensive models, at a guide price of £30. I tracked them down at play.com for £16.99, although you'll have to pay more if you want them in pink!

http://www.play.com/Search.aspx?searchtype=ELEC&searchstring=cx+300&page=search&pa=search&go.x=0&go.y=0

Ordered a pair of white ones today; will let you know how I'm getting on with them as soon as I can.

Sorry to start a thread but some Rawkers might be in the market for an Ipod docking station.

I have just spent a week looking for a decent system to play my Ipod through and I will tell you I was struggling  Until I found this at the ultimate price.

http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/ifi.aspx

http://www.macworld.com/article/44954/2005/05/ifi.html

I have just purchased this in curry's for £79.97 I kid you not!! Here are the prices on the internet

http://www.easyishop.co.uk/product.php/596/186/klipsch_ifi

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Klipsch-iFi-iPod-Speaker-System/dp/B0007XOHTU

I cannot believe it, this is one serious piece of kit. They are not showing online but they have a few instores so get down there.  It blasts this out of the water

http://www.bose.co.uk/GB/en/home-entertainment/personal-audio/sounddock-digital-music-systems/sounddock/pricing.jsp

The bass on this is rubbish as you increase the volume, it really struggled. But admittedly it was winning my shopping list but was really too expensive for something to just play on ipod on.

This was the list of places where Bez first raised the bargain, I just happen to work within a large group that had decided to "offload " at a ridiculous price. You may find last ones and display models in isolated branches of Currys, I was able help a few locate some pristine boxed stock. pretty much dried up as of now. :wave

Sennheiser CX 300 - Update.

Well they arrived promptly from those nice people at play.com. And they are fab! I've been through a few pairs of headphones in my time and these are excellent. Really light don't-know-they're-there feeling is even more amazing when you hear the noises in and around your head - crisp, sharp, plenty of attack, sonorous bass, excellent stereo shaping. The only thing that bothered me in some of the reviews were comfort issues. Well, I can honestly say I have no problems on that score. There are three sets of earbuds in varying sizes. I've experimented with all three and gone for the smallest ones, which means the phones almost disappear inside the ear canal. But like I said, with no sense of wearing them. Weird, but nice. Highly recommended.

:D She is, there were two of them. £22 on Ryanair being an extra bag and overweight. My girl picked them up from the airport, so all I had to do was go down 4 floors in the lift, put them in the lift from the garage... and go up again. Hard work!

I like this style of headphone for on planes and other journeys and to ignore annoying people at work - they really allow you to cancel out pretty much everything around you and I love the review above when it says 'plenty of attack' !! :)

I managed an even better bargain and picked then up for £12.99 via Amazon marketplace.  I'm not A/V connoisseur, but for the price, these certainly do an excellent excellent job.

:D She is, there were two of them. £22 on Ryanair being an extra bag and overweight. My girl picked them up from the airport, so all I had to do was go down 4 floors in the lift, put them in the lift from the garage... and go up again. Hard work!

They are nice an meaty, just put them together now. 2 subwoofers and 8 satelite speakers in a two room flat 8)

You got two?
Better today than yesterday...........
           even better tomorrow.
