Thought Carroll was fine to be honest, barely noticed him as an attacking threat because most of the crosses were dire, and he could have maybe done better for that shot, but at least he put the ball in the back of the net. Not his fault Suarez foolishly nipped the ball off Downing in an offside position.

funnily enough I thought Carroll starting against Blackburn at home would be a good chance for him to push on. But he's as useless as usual and pretty much just a lump up top who's making up the numbers without actually doing anything.

Have been pleasantly surprised with Downing, who, on a few occasions in that half at least, showed pace, tenacity and desire to get past his man with the purpose and ambition that all top attackers in his position have. We need more of that from him.
