I think it's a real possibility that he goes to Madrid in the summer, I'm afraid. There are so many reasons why a player like him, at this stage of his career, would strongly consider the move if they came calling. They're in a great place right now with their squad full to the brim with Europe's best and are guaranteed trophies. His mate, Bellingham, has become a superstar immediately and will no doubt be in his ear talking about how good it is. I also wonder if he feels that he hasn't had the respect he deserves during his time here. Despite his brilliance, he's always had a cloud over him because of his defensive deficiencies and even if he played RB for Madrid, he'd have far less to do defensively because of how they dominate games. Finally - he's got a year left on his contract, his next will be committing his peak years, he's won everything with the club, and the manager - one of the best in our generation - is leaving and likely being replaced by a relatively unknown entity, to start another rebuild less than a year after the last one began.

You can see why it would be a highly attractive move for him. The only thing keeping him here would be loyalty and maybe a promise that he'll play in midfield for Slot. If he turns them down, fair play.

We should probably be prepared for a saga this summer. Klopp's departure has overshadowed issues like this but it's feeling potentially quite 'Gerrard to Chelsea in 2005' to me.

He looked devastated last night to be fair.

I think he will stay and be the face of new Liverpool but we have to decide on him being a full back or midfielder. The hybrid thing doesn’t really work with our personnel.

If he goes to Madrid then he will be a right back and he has talked openly about not wanting to do that anymore.

A bit nervous about the manager search. Edwards has a great track record for player recruitment, but identifying the right management isn't the same. Klopp was always going to be perfect for us and you didn't need a team of analysts to wave spreadsheets in your face. The one time they started from scratch and actually had some thinking to do we ended up with Rodgers.

Itll be us this year, missing out on the final day to the cheats. We needed to be ahead of them now(with equal games played)
I think you’re winning it this year. City will drop points I reckon. I do think Arsenal deserve to win it, having been the best team…and I hope they do if I’m honest. Good luck, you’ll probably need a bit along the way.

Zero idea where his best position is anymore. The more Doucoure (?) walked through him in one counter in the second half was an embarrassment. But a manager worth his salt finds a way of mitigating his weaknesses and selling him also sends the absolute wrong impression. Integral he stays - more so than Salah and even van Dijk.

Just don’t think he will ever have that composure.

The last month or so has been really bad. Blasting shots at the keeper, poor touches when played through - second half last night did he even get a touch on the ball?

It's not just his finishing either, it's his composure in all big moments.

That chance vs United where he could either score himself or play a simple cutback to Szobo to tap-in, and instead blasted it across the face of goal to no one will haunt me for a long time. Feel like that's the moment where the season really got away from us and the moment I gave up for good on Darwin ever being our main man in attack.

He has all the attributes but none of the brains. He's basically a very-slightly-better Djibril Cisse.

So you are asking for us to make ‘derby challenges’ then moaning about our game management because we haven’t been smart.

That’s all on the ref if they are going down at slightest contact and we aren’t getting same decisions. How could we play our game ?

I'll say it again, Everton won TWICE as many duels as us. This is a recurring theme at present as I believe atalantas numbers were similar. Whether it's fatigue or something else, we've stopped competing.

As if any Liverpool fan would turn on Klopp.

People won’t turn on Klopp.

It’ll be more people saying it’s the right time for a change. Particularly if we stumble to 77-80 points with another defeat or 2 before the end of the season.

That type of attitude would have been unfathomable 6 weeks ago. I think everyone will be appreciative of what Klopp has done but you can hear whispers already of people thinking a managerial change may not be the worse thing at this point.

Its a pretty unprecedented drop-off. I honestly can't remember the last time he tried to kick a ball and actually made a good contact with it. People joke about our strikers having the yips, but this genuinely is the closest thing I can think of to football yips. We know his pace has gone but his finishing and assists, until January, were still as good as ever. Without any of that we have nothing.

If we want to be brutally honest, we are lucky this has happened now and not in September. I don't think Edwards will be shy about making the right decision this summer.

The way I feel about the football gods just now, is that they would be quite happy to have Everton and Spurs as local rivals, be the teams that feck up the title challenges and allow City to win the league.  :butt

We fecked up the title challenge long before last night, but it is true that our rivals certainly have it in for us far more than City's do. United roll over and have their bellies tickled time and again and would sooner see their neighbours win over us. Weird behaviour.

It would be a huge loss. One of they few truly world class players left in the squad.

A loss - yes, but nothing that couldn't be managed. In any case if he wishes to go - this is the summer to do it. Make it a full rebuild, let everyone go who isn't 110% commited and start without any baggage. I wouldn't hold it against him, their careers are short and can end at any time with a bad tackle. If he chooses to stay though, we must find a more suitable slot for him because he is costing us at right back. We'll see. I'm pretty chill about any of these players with year left, they can all be replaced.
