Well, it's clearly not the Italian flag as the bars are not horizontal.

The only flags I can find like that are the previously mentioned North Rhine-Westphalia, the pre-1980 flag of Iran and the pre-1900 flag of Quebec.

The flag of Iran does have a symbol in the centre though, and the pictured flag is just a plain tricolour.

To me, it does look like it's the North Rhine-Westphalia flag.

I go to Sardinia in a few weeks and I might try to pick up a large Italian flag to paint a Liver bird on.

Come to think of it, there have frequently been red/white/yellow flags on the kop, also reflecting old away kits.

Also, my half-size replica of Big Ears, as a few people asked me to post a picture a while back but I've only just worked out how to do it.

The top one is 8'x5' and the smaller one is 5'x3'.

The Liver Building Tower silhouette one was inspired by a picture I saw on the old Spion Kop in the days just after Hillsborough. Someone drew a picture of the tower and the bird with the sun shining behind it. It was for a young lad of 19 from Seaforth called Gary Church who perished in the tragedy. I never forgot it.

If it is, the colours are upside down, though. Hungary is red, then white, then green.

Personally it doesn’t work for me. The flags on the Kop are mainly red white and yellow and this one kind of upsets the flow in my eyes. Spanner in the works sort of thing.

They look great. The second one looks like it belongs in a church (in a good way!) - unique but recognizable . A very nice tribute.
