Could be. I could have interpreted it wrong.
Just goes to show what sort of players we could have gotten after we sold Luis. It was all unnecessary and for me, it culminated with the 6-1 loss at Stoke. Still irks me that! A horrific end to a stellar career for our captain as well. :(

The mad acquisition and pursuit of the likes Ballotelli, Lambert, Benteke.. and some others around the pitch; while we were well aware of, showed interest and were even offered the likes of Mane, Shaqiri, Van Dijk and dicked around with Salah.. and while Achterberg were waxing lyrical about an unknown lad called Allisson.

So unnecessary- the disconnect between the manager and the Committee.

In any case- it's a chapter that's closed now and we've learned from it I suppose.

Rodgers always wanted players mainly from this league. He wanted established premier league players with youngsters from abroad. That was his undoing. I said at the time Benteke would get him sacked to the horror of many on here (understandable) but him spending that money on him at the time when he was under pressure added to his downfall.

Still think Rodgers was an okay manager though on the whole. He definitely had some great moments. But we're in a different league now.

Thank Fowler we're not getting Caulker

what is the bet?

One one of the Sky programs before the season started, Carra and Neville were trying to make penalty kicks. They made a bet on it involving wearing the shirts of the rival clubs. Carra made his, Neville didn't. When Carra won, he specifically said first it would be a #23 shirt, then it would be a #23 Shaqiri shirt, based on Neville's comments about him. Neville is currently trying to get out of it, saying Carra didn't pay up on a previous bet.

The best part is, the bet was Neville's idea and so was the punishment.

Looks the only player we have, with the know how to kill a game.

When he came for a short corner in the last five, Milliner looked at him like he'd discovered fire.

Absolutely professional.
I expected him to take that ball in the corner near the end and just cube himself around it for four remaining minutes.

I do remember being sat in Off The Pitch four years ago being told I was doom-mongering about Hicks and Gillett. It's made me cautious: some of you sound positively Candide-esque in your refusal to keep a watching brief.

He’s a fantastic option for late in the game and tiring defenses. Loved the way he played for time at the end, no so much when Gomez threw it straight back to them.

Brilliant sub, great effort. Any concerns about working hard for the team instantly quashed. Should have had two fouls before the linesman finally gave us the third. Really dug us out with some bravery interlligence and ball retention after a poor team spell

sure takes the fun out of football at stoke. the excitement killer :P

him and keita gave us some decent control back when it was really needed. with VVD getting the yellow, you can see him taking less risks in keeping ball and just hoofed it upwards for bobby and shaqiri to hold the ball up higher up the pitch.
