Ironic that it was started by someone labelling him an Evertonian too, the king of the fume.

For me, he wants to be the amazing pundit everyone loves and thinks is a laugh - but is worried of speaking positively of Liverpool in fear of being labelled biased.

Anyone who questions his love for the club is a muppet, he’s still clearly a fan
i think he has done well as a pundit, enjoy him and neville

they do their best not to be biased

as RR said though he was lucky to keep his job after spitgate

Fabregas almost grabbed the ball with both hands, and he said not a penalty - and bunch of other stuff that others have mentioned. Seriously i can't stand the guy, and i lost all my respect for him.

I could if it was Paul Pogba. Ultimately, Carra's job as a pundit isn't to represent the club or be some Ian Wright-type superfan, it's to be objective so all the viewers can get something out of it. I don't really get people calling him a sellout - it's not like he's going on LFC TV and slagging off players or plugging the Sun.

But hes not even remotely objective, hes just a twat with a microphone who spouts constantly contradictory shite.

No, but he'll be ok hiring a NOTW journo

As I've said before, the Full English is just the base upon which the Scots/Welsh/NI have improved upon. Sorry but the Full English is the worst of the British breakfasts.

Quite a few of the ex-players do seem to have an axe to grind. I do wonder if there's a worry that this side could surpass their achievements. Carragher, Hamann and Murphy are particularly bad. Owen too.

Nonsense.

That's the worst one for me. Imagine Karius was a United player: could you ever imagine Neville piling in with Carragher to attack a United player? Not a chance in hell. I have more respect for Neville than Carragher because he doesn't hide his love for United.

Well he was hardly warm to De Gea?

If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

If you weren't watching and were just listening while doing some ironing or something you'd think we were under the cosh by Barcelona circa 2009 in that first half. Saying they were causing us real problems with their fullbacks. Every shot on target Alisson barely had to move for and it was hardly a barrage. He's absolutely dogshit at commentating on football matches.

The worst part was when he started criticising Alisson for only parrying out a deflected shot. Was berating him for it, then saw the deflection but carried on regardless.

After the game he said that Virgil had improved Liverpool but it's still early days for Alisson, which is a bizarre thing to say considering how much he's contributed to this improvement with his clean sheets and match winning saves.

I don't  think its Carra trying to be unbiased, I just think he's a terrible pundit/ Co commentator...

He's equally bad in non LFC games... he's always pushing a narrative that often doesn't match whats happening on the pitch.

Oh Jesus.

Carragher always gets stick on this forum.

Got stick as a player, got stick as a person, gets stick as a pundit.

The argument of him being too unbiased is extremely daft. He's a scouser on one of the biggest sports channels and...

Well, that might be it right there.  :butt

There'll be half of scousers jealous of a scouser doing well for himself (on TV), and there'll be half of Liverpool fans seething jealous of his scouseness and lack of zealousness (which is a weird little paradigm in itself...).

most seem too!

There does seem an inordinate amount of ex Liverpool players who are really shit pundits though, and Carragher falls into that category. Although I'm sure a lot of other team's fans think the same of their ex-players!

I loved Carra as a player and am not one of those people who are jealous of success, in fact I like seeing people do well for themselves when they have worked for it.
If you judge Carra solely on his punditry, then to me he is a bit shit. Last couple of games I've watched that he has been co-commentator on, he's been sucked into the whole hype Man Utd trap and sometimes talks like he does know the game. I do wonder if the whole spitting thing is affecting his work?

He was never a world class defender. But he had buckets of passion and commitment and truly represented the club well. That's why we love him.
For some reason it's hard to find a decent highlight reel of him. His best days were under Houllier when he was a lot more mobile and versatile.

As a pundit, he does seem to try to over-compensate for his obvious love for the club. But I like his attritional style behind the camera. At least he doesn't act like a lot of the other ones do.

And yes of course he will always be a blue. In the same way we would always be reds even if we played for the blues.
But i think he said in his bio that what turned him away from the blues was how their fans treated him. So it was a reaction to treatment. But his heart is obviously still there. He just doesn't chime with their fans. He's with ours and our club. But he would definitely cheer Everton winning something, even privately. Whereas we wouldn't.

Disagree with this, he went from being a steady but limited full-back under Houllier to a top class (if not quite world class) centre-back under Rafa in my opinion.

I’d agree with that. His performance in the Away leg of the first Chelsea semi final was amazing. He reacted to everything and helped snuff them out. It was a level of performance that you couldn’t have predicted even a couple of years earlier.

Houllier absolutely loved him though and he did a sterling job for us across the back four for him. But I’d say his best years were 2004-09.

they were absolutely his best years, he was one of the best in europe at that point.

shuffled along the back line well too under houllier, he was getting better each year until houllier left.
