Let's get at them!

It will be tough, it will be chaotic, it will be close; but towards the end of the game, the Kop, the Main Stand, the Sir Kenny and half the Annie will be singing the tune to a certain song by a certain Mancunian band with such force, volume and intensity that anyone standing outside Homebaked and hearing it roar into the night sky will be in no doubt that a certain Egyptian has just slotted home the winner. Amen.

Oh I don’t know about that..

Ok, they’ve not got LaPorte Sane or Silva. But that doesn’t really affect their first 11.

What it does do is affect their bench, over a number of games that might have an impact, but in a one off game their first 11 is still..... incredible

I couldn't have had anything better to read with my first Saturday morning cuppa than a beautiful classic Yorky article.
Thanks mate, thoroughly appreciate it.

As for Anfield. If ever a team needed that famous 12th man….

In the last few years this game seems to intensify the noise more than any I recall for a long time. Any City possession will be met with vociferous tribal whistles.
Anfield can be a weird place at times, no more so than on Tuesday against Genk, but there's no wondering about Sunday, you can absolutely guarantee the Kop will smoother City with a deafening fear. And they don't like it. You can sense it, they'll attempt to play through it and they'll have they're mandatory good ten minutes of dangerous possession, but ultimately they'll be sloppy in the environment they hate most. They must fucking dread coming here.

As for the team. Tenacity, nous and a bit of clinical finishing should see off City.
It's just a matter of which 2 plays with Fabinho. This time last week I dreamt of an attacking Keita, but now one has to be Ox. I'd go for Gini as the 3rd with Henderson's energy replacing him on 70. We're becoming a team of hero's - whose turn is it this week.

It's gonna be a something 1. Not a nil 1 or a 1-1, but it's gonna be a something 1. Fucking hell it will probably be a frantic 3-2. And hold your / our nerves until the final whistle.

Just a mention to the selection of Michael Oliver as the Ref, it really does relieve the trepidation of entering such a massive game when you know someone fair and competent is in charge.

Thanks again Yorky.

A win would be an incredible result. I’d take a draw for sure. All the talk of injuries for City and how they’re a shadow of last year is moot. This is the best team we’ll play in any competition this year.

Ederson and Laporte being out impacts their starting eleven a lot. Stones-Fernandinho with Bravo behind is much worse than Ederson, Laporte-Fernandinho/Stones.

Had my fingers crossed that Matip would be back, love Lovren but just don't trust him. Gomez also has the odd mistake in him at the moment but his pace gets him out of so much, probably be  Lovren would prefer Gomez

One day to go to the biggest game of the season so far.

While we've been working with our starting 11 and tactics for the past while, man city look in absolute disarray. If their keeper is out, whatever plans they had for the defence and midfield is out the window.

I can see us getting plenty of shots on target and a huge amount of chances, we just need to take them all.

All this talk of respect by their players and the coaching staff is bollocks. This is the first time the players and staff are back at Anfield since they sang about Kompany deliberately trying to break Salah's legs, joking about Sean Cox and mocking Hillsborough. Their players have no respect for our players, no respect for our fans or the city they're playing in on Sunday. Let's not try to kid ourselves otherwise. It's all on video.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with letting the players and staff on their bus know that if the police and bullet proof glass weren't in the way, you'd rip their fucking heads off, and that you'll see them inside the ground for round two and back outside the ground for round three. It can all be done without smashing their bus up. These fucker's heads have gone and are looking for any excuse not to play the game.

We need the game to go ahead, let the pricks into the bearpit with their bus intact. The best way to get payback on their players and staff is to humiliate and embarrass them in front of hundreds of millions of people around the world. Get on their back for every misplaced pass and half a second of hesitation.

Let them know that there are no hiding places on Sunday.

Is right Dave D. Tomorrow needs to be unlike anything they have seen or felt in terms of vitriol.

Abu Dhabi FC are everything wrong with football. Their manager is a spoilt brat who cries when things aren't going his way. I want them to be psychologically damaged after tomorrow.

We know it's possible, ask Barca.

And we are the best team they will face this year in every competition, so I am not sure what your point is. In fact, this IS their hardest fixture of the year, and for us it is not.

Thank God Kloppo and players are more ambitious than some of the fans, and never accept a draw before the a ball is even kicked.

We defo have a psychological edge over these. An early goal would really help along with the Anfield roar. Im one of those that think there's always an error in Lovren but he does have a knack of pulling it off when the chips are down, In the midfield Id start with Fab Ox and Keita. Get a goal or 2 up and bring on Hendo and Gini. Come on you mighty fuckin reds!!!

Man City have faced no one in the league this year bar Spurs. Lost to Wolves.

We have faced much better teams. We destroyed City in the Shield in August.

Im not sure they are as good as last season.

I think about the "turn from doubters to believers" line on an almost daily basis, it has helped me in my own life. Klopp is genuinely inspirational and it's no surprise to see our lads willing to run through brick walls for him.

I’m honestly inspired by the whole team. But Robertson always stands out for some reason. I’m 43 and feel like I’ve done alright in life, but when I see that pasty little Scrote who was skint in his flat a few years ago bombing up and down the wing with a CL medal in the back pocket and testing messi along the way I want to do better. The guys a phenomenon. (Also Milner)

On to the game, is this possibly the highest quality match up the English league has ever seen? Two teams who got the best part of 100 points each last season, city maybe not quite at that level now, but we look like we’re actually improving... in terms of quality and tactics, it’s not a rivalry as such but there’s no doubt both sides are pushing each other to even more ridiculous levels.
I’ve said it a few times recently but in my opinion winning the league over this city side would be one of the greatest achievements in sporting history.

Let’s win tomorrow and get the ball properly rolling.

We mustn't fall for this bus wanker nonsense. The image of Liverpool and Scousers in this country is already poor, and for City, their manager, fans and sections of the media to constantly bring it up enforces those negative stereotypes. It wasn't as if 10,000 of us lobbed bottles and bricks at the bus. It was a few idiots, it was distasteful at best and downright idiotic at worst. But fuck me, get over it.

We get mocked for 'being the victims' yet as far as I can see, it is other clubs who can't let anything go and act as if they've been persecuted. Let's do our talking on the pitch and go 9 points clear.

To get in the mood, just enjoyed the highlights of those two champions league games against City. I love all the goals, the Ox howitzer, Mo’s chip in the second leg that was the moment we knew we were going through.

But favourite of all is Bobby’s slide rule precision pass onto the inside of the post. The interception, the run with the ball adjusting his position all the time getting ready to take the shot, the tiniest of glances up then that cool as you like finish. You can’t really overestimate how good that was in the heat of the moment. But best of all is Bobby’s ridiculous ‘can you believe this’ celebration laughing behind his hand in front of the delirious Liverpool supporters. It just cracks me up every time and is pure Bobby Firmino ;D

It doesn't matter that they need a win more than we do. I expect us to need at least one goal fpr a draw, so just go for it.
If it's a draw with 10 minutes left, I could see Klopp choosing a more cautious tactic, but never for 90 minutes.

Our 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge looks even better now - they've hit some form and City play them after us.

If we do make it a 9-point gap, there's every chance we can extend it further before the new year (although one game at a time and all that...).

It's about time we got the rub of the green in the league against them. We've got a good chance at scoring with no Ederson or Laporte. We'll kick ourselves if we don't take advantage.

How to get our mojo back for Man City matches:

Simples. 2 years ago Man City were setting new records in the Premier League and being hailed the best team everest, even though such a word is unfair. We played them in the two Anfield games to prove we can compete against the best of the best everest. We did it. We proved it everest.

But the landscape has changed. Now, we're on top. Last season we were right in there, and instead of fighting fire with fire and proving everest, we were instead being a little cautious, we had something to lose... it could be the same this time as we have a six point lead we don't want to ruin.

How to avoid this mindset: I would say forget about the six point lead. Play them as if we're going to climb the highest mountain on Sunday, and give them everything, throw everything at them as if we're playing a City team on Fifa 20 with edited players rated 99 all over the pitch... we got to produce one of those performances where we want to kill teams with three goals in 20 minutes again.

Great Op Yorky. Huge game. I think will with
Allison
Trent-Lovren-VVD-ROberton
Fabinho-Gini
Hendo-Firmino-Mane
Salah

I dont think Keita and Ox are fit enough to play 60+ at high intensity but Klopp would be ready to use them early second half depending on the score and how the game

These are gonna get the second half of the community shield right from the off, with plenty of added goals. Smash mouth.

And, we're now playing a team in 4th instead of the best team ever ever.
