Really liking SRWare Iron. I'm only what you'd call a casual browser, so probably not getting the most out of it, but it's speed is excellent. Doesn't seem to love flash-based sites, which is a shame for iPlayer, but no gripes apart from that, and I get a lot less virus warnings now.
I think the problems are most likely flashplayer related, is it sucking memory and crashing, or not rendering/displaying properly?
I had Flashplayer/Iron/FF misery after cleaning Registry using CCleaner (***never fuk with the Registry unless absolutely necessary***). It screwed up flash in FF too, Safari and IE were fine. It seems to have corrected itself eventually, some time after I'd reinstalled all browsers (wind back IE8 to IE7), uninstalled flashplayer and ActiveX controls...as well as running AdvancedSystemCare to fix Registry problems.
I spoke to a guy (who advised me to use ASC/Malwarebytes/AvastAnti-virus) about uninstalling. He said use the Windows Add-Remove option in Control Panel. So I did that AND then the Adobe uninstaller to make absolutely certain flashplayer was gone.
I'm not exactly sure why it's working now, maybe the gods of windows were eventually appeased by the clean install rituals, it wasn't immediately, but after using Safari instead for a while. [Safari seems much more robust than Iron/Chrome/FF in how it works with flashplayer. Apple hate Adobe flash.]
I'd switched to the latest beta version 10.1 of flashplayer because it won't hang the whole browser if flash crashes in one tab/window.
You can check your release version here:

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/ The current version is 10.1.53.64
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html#versionFollow instructions to uninstall what is currently installed:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html***restart pc*** to make abolutely sure all files and settings are completely removed, then install the version just downloaded.
I've no problems with iplayer or other flash objects now. e.g.
iplayer dr whoI suspect a lot of browser-flashplayer problems are caused by legacy issues after updates to flash which didn't fully clear settings related to previous versions, or possibly updates to browsers.
I'll wait till after the game to update to the current release, and probably create a system restore point before I start the uninstall-install process.
