Echo the comments above, excellent when fit but not fit too often.  4th choice next season.

He was boss first half. That chase with son and just bullying him off the ball. We're happy for that to happen sometimes when it's him gomez or virgil but running a tight rope when it's anyone else.

Anyway, fingers crossed. Don't even know when he got injured?

I do not understand how he is so injury prone. Him and Naby. Both had pretty decent injury records before joining us but since then, they've been worse than glass.

Up until now we were dealing with minor injuries, now it's a serious one.
We have to sign a CB now. There is no way we can make do with what we have with both Matip and Fab injured.

I have never ever seen a season like this where CB after CB has been decimated.

His injury record is one thing, not going to argue that. But I think Matip is both a candidate both for second best centre back in the PL behind Van Dijk, and the most underrated player in the PL. Ability wise, he's fantastic.

Love Joel, should be our 4th choice centre back if he stays though.

He was 4th choice last year on appearances.  At this rate he could be sixth on appearances this year. Think he's done to be honest. Age wont be his friend.

Absolutely. And while his injury record does suck, I'm very grateful that his (probably) best injury-free run came when we needed him the most. We don't win #6 without him staying fit the whole second half of the season.

Must sign a CB now.

In a perverse way a serious injury to Matip might be a blessing if it finally wakes FSG up. They are leaving Klopp out to dry at the moment

He's a real quality defender he really is. Such a crying shame. I've thought all along we won't sign anyone in Jan but if its a bad one I wonder if that forces us to now.
I don't blame Klopp or anyone for not signing someone in the summer, they had their 2 first choice, they had Matip/Philipps/Fabinho/Williams as other options if needed. Freak injuries have shafted us.

Can’t be that serious he walked off at half time?

Kidding, in all seriousness it will be ludicrous if the club do not do everything in their power to get a CB in.

Such a tease. Injured for ages. 45 minutes where he plays like the bastard son of Franco Baresi and Beckenbauer, then off injured again. One of the best centre backs in the world but made of cardboard.

Don't worry lads we only have City in 7 days with no fit centre backs  ::)

City don't play with a recognized striker.
Its only fair we don't play with any Centrebacks.

Can we get a loan? I mean we've only had all month and all of Nov/Dec to think about it.

We cannot continue in the season without getting someone in, even if it's a loan. Not doing that will seriously jeopardize our season. We can't keep playing midfielders as CBs. It's not sustainable.

3 season ending injuries to your top 3 centre back options (with your 4th missing the game through injury).

You can never account for that.

Klopp wants a defender now, no doubt about that

But he wants it to be the right player, not just any player and that's official quotes from him.
"He's trying to get right away from football. I believe he went to Everton"
