He deserves one mate.

We have so many excellent footballers at Anfield now. The whole team is strewn with them. But Firmino, I think, is the one who provides that divine spark of genius. I probably get more sheer enjoyment from watching him play than anyone else. I think he feels truly appreciated here too.

It's his unorthodoxness that makes him truly unique and a massive conundrum to opposition supporters and probably opposition managers/coaches/analysts.

They havent a clue what he's supposed to be or do or where he's likely to be found on the pitch.

Fucking love his weirdness and quirkiness and that he's ours.

This is it!

How many times are we surprised, even shocked, by passes he makes or by his extraordinary ability to carry the ball out of seemingly impossible situations and into open space? You cannot guess what he's going to do from high up in the stands, or from watching the TV. How more difficult must it be in the hurly-burly of a football pitch?

Genius.

Brilliant Debs ^^^
There was a game in, I think, January, when he did a 180 degree spin on the ball which absolutely bamboozled everyone around him. It was remiss of me not insisting someone created a gif of it and now I can't remember the game.

He has a level of technical ability different to any player, I'm not saying better than all, but completely different than any we've had before.

Of all the players that I have seen play for us, Firmino is the one who has the best work rate and ball control. Put him in a tight corner and somehow he’ll leave 3 players bamboozled in his wake.

His tracking back and winning the ball is the best that I have seen.

He’s also very good when he has a half chance.

For me he is the most under-rated player in the top six teams.

He’s a genius.

I've just edited my post because it illustrated why I got a grade 5 CSE (not O Level or GCSE) in Maths - Bobby did a 180 degree not 90 degree turn.

Of course he's also capable of a 360 degree turn, he's saving that for a blind back-heel though :)

Genius.

Indeed. Some players try things that don’t come off, and you groan - sometimes audibly (or worse).

When it’s Bobby you cut him an inordinate amount of slack, because you know that in a tight match, it’s more than likely that one of his flights of fancy, his sheer off-the-cuff inventiveness, will prove to be the difference. Which is in no way to diminish all his other attributes.

As with others who’ve said it, my favourite player in a red shirt. So my favourite player.

That's one of the reasons why I respect him so much as a player; so many of the traditional skillful, creative players have been prone to disregard the defending side of the game, preferring to wait for one of the water carriers to bring them the ball so they can play.

Bobby just says "fuck it" and chases the oppo player down from behind.

Hundreds of times...

Like an enganche with a leather-lunged work rate...

His heading ability is incredible for a shorter player. Those two goals against Spurs/Porto were made to look so easy despite there being a lot to do when the crosses were delivered.

Does height give you technique? Not sure it does. The best header of a ball to have played in Red in my lifetime may have been Toshack. But I think even he was edged by Kevin Keegan. All five foot eight of him.

His ability to separate himself from a defender by a couple of yards, from a standing start on the ball, even without being blessed with rapid acceleration, is astonishing. It shouldn't be so easy to unbalance and dribble past professionals.
