It's insane and completely irresponsible that both the Cheltenham races and the Wales-Scotland rugby match are still going ahead.

Fuck every selfish Irish person who went to Cheltenham knowing full well the risks involved.
We had a game on Tuesday that had thousands of people coming over from Madrid. Nobody has the highground with this.

In hindsight. As soon as City Arsenal was cancelled...everyone should have got in line with that. But thats hindsight

Most club owners have no interest in the sport. Merely a business exercise. If they void it they should be made to return every penny to fans, sponsors, tv companies that they have received. They won't of course because they will say it's an entertainment industry and entertainment was produced. End of the line for me if they go down this route. Absolutely no reason for not finishing this season before they commence the next. Fans should boycott if they choose to cancel rather than postpone.

Let's be honest here ... this three week hiatus isn't going to make any difference in regards to whether the season continues. We could all be in a worse position in April 4th than we are now, be three weeks behind fixture wise, and no nearer an improvement in public health. In fact probably in a worse state of the expert's predictions of a peak is to be believed. This is nothing but a three week window for the authorities to conjure a plan on how to end the season. It's just delaying the inevitable imo.

You’d hope.  Surely them calling for Premier League to be binned and no winner announced with 9 games left, only for them to demand to play 6 Champions League games so they can try and win that is too much of a cynical move even for them. They would surely get called out and hauled over the coals for it?

City & Everton. Possibly United. Fuck them. The bumbling idiot Manc in my office is absolutely desperate for the season to be cancelled. It's fucking pathetic.
If we were 25 points behind United or City with nothing to play for i'd be desperate for them to cancel the season too, to be fair ;D 30 years without a title, build a huge lead and have the season deemed null and void when we're two wins away from securing it. Everyone else will be pissing their pants and you can't blame them.

It surely makes no sense to abandon the season though anyway. No guarantee at all that this will all magically be gone by August so we could end up with a cancelled 19/20 season and then not able to start a new one til October or November anyway. Surely better off just keeping everything postponed until it clears up and there's a chance to finish the season.

There can surely be no way that they deny a team with such a huge lead the title. The big question is whether we will either have to win it behind closed, by default or whether we will get the chance to continue as normal in a couple of months time.

Agree with the likely deterioration here but by April 4th places like Italy will be stopping their lockdowns. If the data is encouraging it will give a greater idea of the way forward for other countries.

If they did just write of the season or void it or whatever, we would be taking them to court for a MASSIVE payout. Think how much we'd lose in prize money, sponsorships, advertising etc. Into the 100's of millions.

So what is the potential impact on next season?

Lets assume games do get played after the three week break, or a longer one, this is going to have a knock on effect into next season. Do teams have a shorter pre season? Do they scrap the league cup and have league games in those slots?

Cancel the nations league and international friendlies?

Obviously the priority is making sure everyone is as safe as possible, but this isn't just going to effect this season.

Surely grassroots and Semi-professional football needs to follow suit?

Everything and a full lockdown has to follow suit!

We have two options, get on with another virus in the country/world, or have a full lockdown.

It looks like the country is hell bent on the second option, that's fine but if so shutting down a few events is going to do fuck all.

There will be absolutely no point in these actions unless the country follow suit and does a full lockdown. It will maybe stop the spread of a handful of cases but without a lock down these people infected will still be in their workplaces, shops, pubs, transport, weddings.

If we are going to do this then lets just get the fuck on with shutting the country down!! The quicker we do the quicker we can resume everything. If there is no full lockdown then we will be in the same position next month.

No chance we'll be playing again by then.

City can isolate all the players at the Etihad Campus - they have the hotel there and the first team training pitches are located in the main building. I've been there as my lad was at City and trained on the first teams indoor pitch, its a secure building they can keep them in and away from non tested staff. LFC just need to hire a hotel and get all the players isolated there and restrict movement in and out of Melwood.
