Finally did my fan update. Had an old membership which I did 8-9 years ago and wasn't aware, had to ring up twice to get through , but the guy was helpful and deleted the old one pretty quickly, so got to upload the picture again.

He said one the phone if you fail your 6 tries you have to ring up, they give you another 6 tries and when you fail again then you need to go to ticket office in person to sort the fan update out.  From here I understood that they will check it out manually if you fail?

If the latter is true I'd rather just 'verify' myself when I'm driving past one day. The online process looks a disaster

Funny you should say that. Took an age to go green for me so wonder if there was a system issue?

Unsure if this already been answered or posted..

Anyone had to change a name on a fancard to get the account verified.

if changing the name (due to getting married) on the fan card.

Are they just letting you continue to use the same fan card or are they issuing a new card in the new name anyone know. and are they shipping them out or have they to be picked up at the ticket office?

I'm in the process of transferring my card to a mate & club emailed me to say that a new card would be issued next season. Obviously different circumstances to you but my guess would be they won't issue you a new card until next season.

Go on a match day?

Not always feasible with people restricted to train/plane timetables and delays. And normally the TO want no other business on match day apart from match day ticketing issues.

Anyone know what the actual percentage of failures is? If this club have more than 100k members (a low estimate) even a small fraction of that is going to be extremely difficult for them to manually process. What sort of tinpot system are they using that won't even take a clear scan/picture of a driving license.

Mine failed and I didn't hear back from them for 2 weeks after filling in the form. Gave them a ring and all they said was we'll unlock it and you can have another 6 goes. This time it worked on the 2nd try. Frustrating in the whole however.

But they are only doing those on 13+ plus atm so should be approx. 5k.

I've been in touch about my fan update and they had a look at my photo and said it looked absolutely fine, they have forwarded my details over to IT department and hopefully it will be sorted sometime next week.
If for some reason that I have to take my ID to the ground then it will be ok to do this on a match day.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there any exemption on this exercise for supporters clubs that have a number of tickets all in the same name?  Or, will they have to be attributed to individuals now as well?  Cheers

Completely agree! I’m all for supporter clubs but passing on cards between yourselves is as bad in some ways as touting tickets. Get in the queue and press F5  ;D

Same system as everyone else.

The principal being, I suppose, that a supporters' club was originally set up with supporters who wanted to watch matches locally together and those that had tickets grouped together for travel.

It was never a case of supporters' clubs that had access to tickets for people to join and gain access. It was the other way round.

If the person you want to transfer to has their own fancard already, you are stuffed, as far as I can see.

If you transfer the name to someone who doesn't have a fancard then the credits remain and you effectively changing the personal details.

You can't transfer credits between cards as it stands and to take over a card that is currently in someone else's name will need their agreement.

Hi Graham,

I've completed all 4 family members' validations and need to transfer ownership of 2 of the memberships to the people that go. I hope to complete this process after the 13+ sale - am I right in thinking that this is possible as long as the transfer is done by end December?

I am a little concerned that the transfer process could affect the sales process in some unforeseen way and would prefer to do it once attendance for the rest of the year is secured. I would be worried that the transfer process could take a few days longer that expected and that the membership number concerned may end up in some sort of electronic limbo unable to be attributed to a ticket sale.

Alex

But an existing member can take over another members card with their agreement and have there history, as long as they forfeit any on their own card?

I know this but what if the original card holder can’t/won’t provide agreement? They don’t have a great incentive to cooperate when they are giving something away.  The club are helpful on the line but they are painfully slow in replying to emails.

If the original card holder won’t actively cooperate then you won’t be able to transfer.

I do not know if there are different rules for UK supporters clubs and international supporters club but for the international there definitely will not be any exemption as the tickets that the international branches get must be allocated to the card of the supporter that are going to the game. We cannot have for example 5 membership cards for Mr. X and just let our members attend games on these cards. We have to allocate the tickets we get to the members cards of the individual persons attending the game.

I'm in a similar situation although only one Membership to transfer having done the Fan Update. I'm ready to do the transfer but have similar nagging doubts that what if some technical glitch happens if I transfer before the Bulk Sale? I have contacted them about this but am awaiting a satisfactory response. Tempted to do likewise & just do the transfer immediately after the bulk sale as plenty time before the Dec 31 deadline.

1st match last night where my CL ticket was on my ST. Was nice having a paper ticket (especially last season as was able to keep the road to the final). But so glad not having to worry about the post.

Also guess this is a way of reducing touting further by keeping everything on a fancard

It's nice to have the souvenir in Europe but at least you haven't got the ball ache of waiting for the ticket to surface.

Catch up meeting with Club on this issue on Tuesday.

I'll take the planes, trains and automobiles scenarios I have seen on this thread.

One thing I will suggest about the ST Update is they consider publishing some template letters/contact sheets that set up why people want name changes.

So, for instance...

"I have used the season ticket in the name of #### for the last x years. My purchase history will prove it is me who has paid for it.

#### approves the transfer and has attached a letter in the form you have requested consenting the transfer..."

You get the drift.
