Deceptive thread title op, he has his own studio and his first game is a collaboration with Sony.  :-X

Will most likely be PS4 and PC as they've used the olé 'console exclusive' line, which is lovely of course.

He should just continue making Silent Hill but call it something else ;)

It's not deceptive.

They've joined/partnered up (whatever you like) with PlayStation to make a game. They haven't mentioned PC. But If it comes to PC then that's fine too, but they haven't said that.

As you can see Kojima is with Andrew House.

So early to be on the defensive Kash, it's only turned 8am.

Haha seriously.... they've put out a video saying there bringing a game in partnership with Sony to PS4,  they haven't said anything else and I'm just quoting the press release and video with Kojima and Andrew House in. Pretty much it.

I don't see why you think I'm "bumming" anything. I play games on ps4 so this is good news to me.

Also "bum"? 2015 here, or are you typing this on the back of the school bus throwing V signs out the window?

Can't wait for MGS6, aka Alloy Cog Firm.

He has always talked about doing something different to MGS, but always kept coming back to making sequels. Now that he doesn't have the rights to it anymore I wonder what his next project will be.

Also copyright law is a load of nonsense, he should own that IP, not Konami, yet they're going to be whoring it out to some D-list developers to ruin.

He was on vacation, in an undisclosed Konami basement, with his hands and legs tied up and a bag over his head.

Did he say New Franchise or just Franchise? Could be Zone of Enders 3, its not really a blockbuster franchise though and though the first two games had somewhat of a cult following can't see him going back there.

Del Toro said he wouldn't touch Silent Hills again so not sure about that.

Something fresh would be good, move away from stealth based gameplay.

He's wanted to pack MGS in for a while hasn't he? I think it'll be something new, and Sony is the best place he could've gone I think. Their first-party stuff is top-class generally and he'll get the time and the budget to do his thing.

Shame Konami own the Fox Engine though, as good as MGSV was I feel like so much more could have been done after I finished it and had time to reflect on it all.

Made up with this news though.

Well as someone who owns both platforms, knowing that it's coming out on PC means I won't be getting it on PS4. So technically it is  ;D

Sony. But some of their published games have made the PC eventually, like Helldivers and apparently Everybody's Gone to the Rapture will make its way to Steam.

I think it's almost a reverse-psychology method recently from Sony. They're more than open to letting 3rd parties developers release their game on PC, even if they are partially funding the game. It helps warm PC gamers to PS4 if they do want to buy one, if only for the exclusives.

It's worked out well, more players create a buzz about a certain game... sure some might goto PC but plenty will come to PS4 as well.

Starting to see multiplayer 'console exlusive' games that feature cross-platform integration with PC too, Rocket League being a prime example. More players in the online community is always going to be good where its possible (no FPS). Street Fighter V and Boundless will be cross-platform multiplayer titles too.

Incidentally Rocket League is finally coming to Xbox next year and Microsoft won't allow any cross-platform multiplayer... even though everyone's using a Windows gaming PC anyway.

It's absolutely crazy there's no cross-platform play with PC. It's one of the big reasons Rocket League's been a humongous success.

Actually, they said it was coming to Playstation, not Playstation 4. Considering they were apparently still acquiring hardware to make the game, this will be years away and could just as easily be on the next Playstation.

True, but I wonder if any legal issues that could arise if Kojima made a game similar to Silent Hills. Konami could well turn round and claim that he took ideas directly from their own production. May be wrong but it is Konami after all.

First trailer released. Looks intriguing

This off 4chan:

The enemy force has a very strong parallel to Nazis. To be frank with all of you, it was originally intended to be Nazis. We had to convince Kojima for a very long period to drop Nazi imagery and references; as that would surely have had the game canned (Kojima has had issues with Sony on this issue). While we did end up convincing him, the design on the enemies are obvious. This might not seem like a big deal in retrospect, but one of the core elements of the story in the end is that they were right all along. And that the story behind them was distorted (That is, Nazi legacy and intentions)

Someone mentioned that it has a children of men vibe about it and I could really see that.

Maybe the Reedus and Del Toro characters are part of a revolution in order to help save any new borns from being killed by the Army. Mads soldiers were afterall, re-animated skeletons.

I just hope the game itself is as mental as the promo material, and the circumstances around its development instead of Silent Hills. Who knows how much of that Konami-canned project has been able to make it into this one, but Kojima-san rarely disappoints when it comes to twisting folks' melons, be it for good or ill.  ;)

I miss when games tried their damnedest to fuck you up, at a tender age. 'Adult'-oriented gaming has sort of replaced that vibe a bit with loads of gore, sex and profanity, but you've had much fewer games creatively trying to drive you to insanity. The hand-holding culture that has rendered games far less difficult to work out mechanically (basically telling you what to do when and exactly how to do it), has also seemingly reduced the amount of major games that are just bewildering experiences in other aspects. I want this full game to be as hauntingly cryptic as I was anticipating Silent Hills to be after P.T. shit me up.

It seems to be inspired more by surrealist horror cinema than anything; I'm actually half-hoping it has no dialogue at all. Kojima might well be videogaming's answer to Jodorowsky/Lynch/Zulawski (with that unmistakable Japanese flavour, probably heavily influenced by Seijun Suzuki, Shuji Terayama, Hiroshi Teshigahara, etc.)!
"under-promise and over-deliver"
