Keita will be assessed in training session before match due to knock he picked up yesterday

Thought I read somewhere that he wasn't injured and that he's fine..

Bit annoying that there isn't a longer turnaround between this and the southampton game, but there ya go!

I would think Matip starts tonight, Milner too maybe, with Gomez and Hendo left on the bench with the weekend in mind. I'd love to see Div get another start, and allow Mane more time after his non existent pre-season, but I suspect he'll start.

I think Mane will start, he said in the Presser that he was sharp enough and used to the constant playing.
Use the 1st team front 3 to smash Chelsea first half.

Divock should start against a poor Southampton.
Agree Matip should start and keep Gomez fresh for weekend.

Would go for this personally. Defensive options look a little limited so surprised van den Berg isn’t in the 23 man squad.

                     Adrian

Gomez     Matip     Van Dijk     Robbo

                    Fabinho
          Milner              Keita

Shaqiri                                Ox
                       Origi

Subs: Firmino, Brewster, Salah, Mane, Elliott, Lallana, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Trent, Hoever, Lonergan, Kelleher

I wanted Naby Keita to start but since he has issues here's my line-up... and I'm serious... and yes, I don't care about winning this Cup:

Adrian
Whoever, Gomez, Matip, Milner
Gini, Lallana,
Ox
Shaqiri, Origi, Mane

This would help these guys get in shape or stay in shape, while the big guns get some rest for the real thing on the weekend.

I hear what you’re saying, but I doubt that will be even close to the actual team.

You're suggesting the rest and rotation option, I don't think Klopp will go for that personally.

Mo, Bobby, Mane.

Chelsea won't have an answer to that with their fragile back line and we could be home and hosed by second half.
Doubt Klopp will go half arse into this one...

I could be very wrong

He must of signed something now as he's in the squad.

Maybe, we just haven't announced the signing but have registered him.

No I agree that Klopp will play a stronger side. But personally I'd use the other senior players in the squad. It's a short turnaround time to Southampton so I'd rather we save players where we can. It's also a good opportunity to get minutes into the legs of players we'll need during the season.

I would like to see a front 3 of mane, origi and salah for this one. We have seen how firmino performs in finals...so lets so how origi does instead.

I think origi will get a hatrick if he starts with mane and salah.

I can't wait for this. I'll be absolutely fucking delighted if we win. It's the Super Cup, you only get to play in it if you're successful and it's boss to win it.

Stamping our European authority on Chelsea will be a bonus to lifting a cracking shiny trophy.

3-1 to the Reds, don't be surprised if it's 4.

Expecting more from Chelsea tonight, think they'll try and stay in the game as long as possible and look to frustrate us. If we play our strong side and perform to our abilities we should be able to carve them open a few times as United did at the weekend. Pain in the arse to have an away game on Saturday afternoon, but we should be able to field strong enough teams for both games. Ideally we can get a comfy lead and take a couple off here, but I think it'll be decided by the odd goal, maybe two.

Adrian
Trent   Matip   VVD   Robertson
Fabinho
Milner   Hendo
Salah   Bobby   Mane

Changes I'd make from the off would be Milner for Gini, let's him rest for the weekend (though I do expect Gini to start) - and Mane in for Divock, if not for the entire 90. Also would rotate Matip for Gomez. No Alisson of course, so here's hoping Adrian can pick a nice little medal up on his proper debut  ;)

It's not every year or every day you get to play the Super Cup, so take your chance Liverpool.

I echo these sentiments. I am much more keen to win this than I was the Community Shield.

Agree on the scoreline too. With Kante out, I can't see us not winning by a couple. 3-1.

I'm surprised more aren't proper buzzing for this one!

It's the European Super Cup ffs!!!!

You can ONLY win it IF:
(a) You're the current Champions of Europe, and
(b) You beat the Europa League Champions in the same year

So, by basic logic, basically it's better than both the above two trophies combined!

It aint called Super for nothing me old china!
