Liverpool FC Forum / Re: The Title Race 2023/24- Jurgen's Last Dance

We still kind of wobbled on, but since that protest the fans have gone. Me and my mates were saying that it wasn't the same once he was off.

The silence and the protest stopped the fans from getting behind the manager and the team. That hasn't returned. Not sure if you were at Goodison yesterday, but the Everton fans singing our Support was fucking shite weren't wrong. We were pretty silent. Any backing at Anfield - where we lost twice and any backing yesterday - where we lost again didn't come back.

We were shite. Klopp is off. We had momentum in the team. That's gone. We have no support from the stands.

Not sure I can be even arsed going to the last two games at Anfield. What's the fucking point?
You will though! (Go to the last 2 games ;-))

It's not a good season when you're leading the title  race  and throw it away without a fight.

Yeah, there's plenty to be positive about this season, but I'm really not here for the "we'd all have taken this position at the start of the season" shouts to be honest. Dropping points in one or two games during the run-in like in 18-19 and 22-23 is a shrug shoulders, take plenty of pride moment. The way we have capitulated in the past month against some very average teams certainly isn't.

I mean in terms of in the prem who would that be? It would have been better if I mentioned that but I was working on the idea of buying in the prem as Form discussed above. guess we could offer stupid money for Cole Palmer.

Outside the league you can go for Kvara, throw big money at Musiala, try and change Wirtz's mind (not sure if the right profile though), or see if anyone from Real is biting with Mbappe coming in.

Maybe someone like Xavi Simmons but again I am not sure he is the right profile

We need to find them if those players we cant get. There are loads of good footballers out there. All this investment in data and nerds, make it happen.

I think Kvaratshkelia is the stand out wide option. The crowd would absolutely adore him IMO as he was loved at Napoli last season. I think he has the flair of Diaz with a bit more end product which would have been lovely last night and many times over this season. Would be expensive but if Diaz fancies leaving should be more than doable, there's also the chance Salah is sold for quite big money given he's 32 and probably on the way down. Can probably re-assess Jota/Nunez/Gakpo a year down the line but I feel some top quality new wide men are needed now. The left hand side particularly needs an evolution IMO.

Everyone loves Mo but he's had a couple of performances recently that have been pretty unforgiveable in fairness. He didn't seem to even want to try last night which is baffling given we are going for a title. I just can't understand it.

Easier to take but then we would be miles off them. Yesterday was utter shite but we have to be accepting of this being a good season for us. Ultimately its all about the goal and the steps you are willing to take to get there. Jurgen did his bit and now the club have to look to make that next step.

I don't disagree. All I'm saying is that I think it's normal that some people will be reacting more emotionally than others and that the atmosphere in the ground is almost dead as Andy said given the promise of just a few weeks ago to the reality of today.

Sad to see the Nunez thread open again and the same scumbags given free reign to bash the fuck out of him with their "I told you he was shit months ago and no one listened" posts.

Why are these vermin allowed to post here. They're the reason the likes of Red Beret are wanting to bin the site off.
Honestly don't see why any of the individual player threads are open. Just put their vitriol in the Everton after game thread. Trent is off to Madrid, sell Salah blah blah blah. Waste of space the lot of them.

Fingers crossed he'll shine under the new guy, we've all seen him be great, headers, chipping keepers, hard shots, move a defender and curl one in. He's quite capable, it's just figuring out how to enable him to do that all the time

Its bound to happen once in a blue moon isn't it? Losing there every 14 years I can handle! If they ever last that long as a going entity.
Yes. Bound to happen eventually. Their record against us is shameful, but they pull one out of the hat every decade and a half or so. Usually when we are pretty awful on the day.

No doubt they'll be crowing again, one morning in 2038.

People can lie to themselves all they want but this is not a good season.
It was in the players  hands and they threw it away.
This on the players.
They should be  ashamed but I expect their big wage packets will comfort them.

We were only ever one game ahead in terms of a result.
